BoyJones Posted 5 January 2016 Posted 5 January 2016 There can be only one - Jimmy Greaves. I know to some I am a coffin dodger and we go on about the old days, but considering the rubbish pitches and mud laden balls prevalent in my youth, Jimmy Greaves is the greatest striker I have seen play live. Was gutted he wasn't playing in 66, but obviously worked out ok!
Guest MattP Posted 5 January 2016 Posted 5 January 2016 Jimmy Greaves as well for me, I don't think England will ever produce a better finisher. It's amazing how Geoff Hurst came in for him and got a hat trick in a World Cup final, you wonder if that had a huge baring on his alcoholism.
ScouseFox Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Torres in his prime really was incredible. one of the best strikers of his generation. perhaps the best. nobody has any idea what happened for him to go so bad, but for the 5 years he was the best striker in the world he was a fu cking joy.
GingerrrFox Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Alan Shearer for me. He's a bit of **** but you always felt if the ball came near him he would score.
enmac Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Is there anyone here who's seen Arthur Rowley play? Or has a relative who described his ability? Think I've seen one goal, a header, on yt.
fuchsntf Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Just listening to the Stoke v Liverpool game, it's pretty clear that Liverpool are lacking a natural finisher at the club. This made me think of who was the most natural finisher I'd ever seen play in a game, against City. The best I can think of was Robbie Fowler who, I think, scored four in a 1-5 loss at Filbert Street, when we were under Peter Taylor (if my memory serves me right). Fowler that day was absolutely sensational and unstoppable. Who is the most natural finisher you've seen play against City? Mr jimmy Greaves, Dennis Law, Fowler, Bergkamp, len White (newcastle). After Bergkamp, I really cant think of one that hits me.Suarez didnt score against us. Messi definitly didnt. Plus a few wise and beautifull girls, who finished with me, and knocked me over the bar....
ozleicester Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Hes a cvnt.. but those two goals by Tevez in the FA cup were sublime. edit just went back to have a look... have a look at our side, manager, pitch.... time flies
Stuntman_Mike Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 I might get laughed at for this, but Yakubu made it look very easy at times
SystonFox Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Fowler Wright Owen Henry Fryatt Shearer Kenny Miller of Wolves at Molineux Suarez Tevez Messi Zlatan Bergkamp Torres
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Fowler Wright Owen Henry Fryatt Shearer Kenny Miller of Wolves at Molineux Suarez Tevez Messi Zlatan Bergkamp Torres And you saw all those score goals against Leicester?
kingcarr21 Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Trevor Benjamin One of the best strikers I got to see against Leicester would be Bergkamp. What a talent
Stevosevic Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Romario in general. Against city i'll have to go with Shearer.
shen Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Hes a cvnt.. but those two goals by Tevez in the FA cup were sublime. edit just went back to have a look... have a look at our side, manager, pitch.... time flies It does, but that wasn't a bad side to be fair although not sure who Yuki 'A baby' is And we've got a similar charming 'old head' in charge now.
Fox92 Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 As an opposition player probably Van Nistelrooy. The hat trick he scored against us was incredible. In general I'd go with Ronaldo. France '98 was the first World Cup I can remember watching and he was brilliant. Four years later he does it again but this time actually scores two in a World Cup final.
katieakita Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Shows peoples ages but past it Jimmy Greaves was different gravy so must have been deadly in his prime , also think people possibly have a different view to a natural finisher or just someone who scores a few goals.
filbertway Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Not against Leicester but has Louis Dodds been mentioned yet?
SystonFox Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 And you saw all those score goals against Leicester? No. Have seen all of them score goals though
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Tony Cottee was alwasy a great finisher i thought
Lionator Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Leon Crncic, DJ Campbell. Back in the real world, Le Tiss scored some extraordinary goals which just seemed so natural but I'd probably go for Michael Owen when he was at his absolute peak 1998-2001 time.
theessexfox Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Well Aguero just played against City, didn't show it but he is a hell of a finisher.
