M0901 Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 What would be the point then? It'd just mean that the "big 4" wouldn't put their best team out every week in the PL, and go for the cups They'd genuinely just believe "Ah well, we'll be in the CL next season anyway" What a load of bollocks It'll deter competition, not to mention piss on the fire of the "not so glamorous" clubs
Monsell1976 Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Unfair competition rules under European law should put an end to this. Saying that we know uefa and Fifa, and the European courts are corrupt, and this will get pushed through if enough back handers are given.
David Guiza Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 This is basically the kid who brings the football to school and changes the rules every time he gets knocked out of Heads and Volleys. Interesting that it's two of Europe's biggest fall clubs, and not those at the top of the pyramid currently.
Christoph Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 There's no way this will go through. Surely it has to be voted in by a majority and the majority of clubs will be smaller clubs who will say no. Surely there will only be 2-3 teams per league which would want this
MPH Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 " plucky triers like Leicester" is what annoyed me most about that article! How patronizing.
Jordan Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 This is as vile as the 39th game idea. The 39th game idea isn't anywhere near the level of some of what's being discussed.
rico Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 They couldnt keep us out if we won it next season though, could they?
Manwell Pablo Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Why do people have to continually fck with a sport that is perfectly fine left alone.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Funny how both clubs never mentioned this idea when they were winning the league themselves. Both clutching at straws because of how bad they've become.
Footballwipe Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Milan's turnover last season was €200.040m (£152m according to XE.com) Now the fact our estimated revenue for the last season is €137m (£104m) and this figure is before the new TV deal kicks in (and any European football) then it seems pretty safe to say our turnover (and a few other PL clubs) will exceed theirs quite soon :) So the 'biggest earners' tag is absolute BS if you try and attribute it to AC Milan. Thus making this article BS and not worth the time of day.
Captain... Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Ideas are believed to have been sounded out to be submitted to UEFA ahead of their next TV deal, which is due to start in 2018. Bundesliga boss Christian Seiffert has given his backing to the proposals. He said: "If a Super League comes in the way you’ve heard it, and I’ve heard it, that could help us with brand recognition. “As with any company in the world, UEFA or the ECA has to think about what can be done better in the future.” BRAND RECOGNITION! It's a fvcking sport, stick your brand up your arse, and this is from the Bundesliga boss, I thought the Bundesliga was the model we should be aspiring to. TW@s.
Tuna Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 I think its beneath us to be discussing this. Non story, waste of time. Close thread.
Beliall Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Biig clubs "we play to many games, we want another tournament to play"
Corky Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Entitlement is the worst kind of arrogance in football. So what if you've won something 10 years ago and have lots of fans? The world moves on and if you're not good enough any more try and be better instead of artificially gaining a place.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 If this were to pass (which I can't imagine it would) - would the English teams who vote against it be able to create a breakaway league which becomes a new top tier of the Football League? So there'd be a redundant Premier League consisting of 4 or so teams (of which no-one can become relegated from or promoted into), and all the other teams would form a new Championship, with the Championship and Leagues 1 and 2 simply being renamed League 1, 2, 3?

Far too complicated. It should just be divisions 1, 2, 3 and 4 like it was before the PL.
Adster Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 If this happens, that's the end of football for me. Would be absolutely pathetic. Means teams wouldn't need to earn a place to get it, just because they "think" they're a big club. How ****ing pathetic would that be.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Let's just have the same premier we league sides, and the side champions league sides every season.... the excitement
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Far too complicated. It should just be divisions 1, 2, 3 and 4 like it was before the PL. You miss my point. If the "big" European teams were able to organise a re-jig of the Champions League where no other teams were able to compete, surely it'd be just as legal to create a domestic league which would exclude such teams?* This would drastically decrease their stock if they're just playing each other every week *To the average person now, the league would be the same as it is now except the Premier League as we know it would be renamed and run by the Football League and wouldn't feature any of the teams who voted in favour and feature in the proposed new Champions League.
