Dan Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 What a complete scraping of the barrel this is. He'll get a chance but in a window of blatant desperation, this is probably the biggest evidence yet. I feel for him as it's not his fault but the Ulloa thread shows he'll probably get the bulk of the stick if it goes wrong.

No one seems that bothered though. Oh yeah there's plenty of other areas for concern but defence is definitely the most worrysome. If we don't get a number 10 in then I'd play Gray there and let him just do what he wants. He seems able to be involved in the middle where as Mahrez doesn't. I'd then have Mahrez on the left and Albrighton on the right to supply crosses from their strongest foot in to bully boy Slimani. Just hope that that's enough to scrape us through this season and then start again. Get rid of 70% of the squad, the manager, the DOF, the scouting network and the CEO. Build a club that's just won the league and isn't still a tin pot outfit.

To put a positive spin on things he appears to have been a casualty of the Pozzo empire.... perhaps he'll take this oportunity and run with it, we can only hope! Pozzo sold Granada to some Chinese businessman last June. I was concerned, that if he still owned Granada, why hasn't been one of the 'Pozzo migrants' who move around more - and why hasn't he had 'his turn' at Watford (is he not good enough for them ?!). I guess Pozzo has no more influence on what Granada do and who they loan players out to. The loan arrangement with Udinese was a rolling deal, renewed every 6 months - he's had 30 months - I expect Granada have decided to get more dosh from City - plus the rosy prospect of us stumping up megabucks in the summer, if we decide he's good enough to buy.

Vardy will never ever be dropped unfortunately, so Slim will either have to play as a number 10 or we will have to play both as the number 9. Okazaki will then probably pull an Ulloa. Can't believe how much we ****ed up winning the league haha.
WigstonWanderer Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Main thing is can he punt a ball 40 yards to an area no bigger than half a football pitch?

STUHILL Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 He has played a total of 80 league games, and he is 26 next month... Certainly hope the scouts know what they are doing! This is a huge punt
RowlattsFox Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 I'd rather make a loan signing like this then spunk millions on a defender we're not sure improves us. Hopefully just do enough to survive then a big overhaul in the summer, not sure Ranieri is the man to do that though.

MrSpaM Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Our squads screaming out for experienced players and we're signing players that have only played three times as many games as years they've been on the planet
KFS Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Not one for writing players off before they step foot on the pitch, but this just looks fvcking desperate from all angles. Clearly going to be a world beater
shiv Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 I'd like to think this is purely a Hernandez replacement and we're in for another CB. Having said that, don't think it's fair to write him off before he's even kicked a ball for us. But I guess that's just the foxestalk way...
Tuna Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 I'm afraid this sort of signing reeks of panic and basically for me sums up the shambles the football club is right now. A manager who is happy with turgid, dreadful football. A manager who says it's 'ok' if signings we are desperate for are not completed, despite having 30 days to get them done and with a new highly paid scout in the role. CR doesn't seem to realize that we need players who will actively improve the first team, rather than backup players to fill in the squad. The fact we are loaning this guy says it all really. Why can we not attract players? Hull have managed to sign several this month including an Italian international centre half. You'd think Ranieri would have the contacts to get better players in. But then again he says he's the head coach rather than manager so I guess that means Rudkin is in charge! Ranieri has his blinkers on constantly. Standards are set too low this season and he cannot see that we needed better players in, if he did he would be furious that no transfers other than Ndidi were forthcoming. Sakho, Snodgrass, Fonte, Andy Robertson and Jenkinson were going in this window and I'd have been in for them. We seem completely reluctant to buy domestically. Yes we may have to pay more money but there are good players available here who we have completely ignored. We seem obsessed with doing things on the cheap - despite being the 20th richest club in the world - and have made about £14 million this window with the Schlupp and Hernandez sales. Meanwhile all the clubs around us are strengthening. At best players like Wague you are just stabbing in the dark as to whether or not they are good enough. He may be but our track record in the transfer window in the last 18 months looks grim. Just failure after failure. We don't seem to have any real strategy, just pursuing one target and if we don't get them we give up like we did with Keane, Ramirez and Silva. We obviously identified we needed another CB in the summer. Didn't want to pay the money, shamefully, and gave up. Did we decide we didn't need a CB after all? Silva and Ramirez the same. Relegation because we didn't want to pay a few million extra will cost a heck of a lot more. As we're presently constituted, coupled with the way we are playing, we're going down.

That's one of my biggest gripes with Ranieri, we've seen too many unproven players in this league come in and are yet to establish themselves. This has meant we've not really improved our XI and it's telling now as the likes of Fuchs, Morgan, Huth, Simpson and Vardy are all way below par and there's no replacements to rely on.
Innovindil Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Inb4 he's an absolute baller and wins player of the year over the next 6 months.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Seriously Kone and Sakho available and we end up with this twat. Be absolutely livid if this is the case. Unlikely to ever play for us realistically as can not even get into the team at Udinese. ****ing laughable!!

Just paying whatever it takes, a policy that could back fire of course.

adam Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Of all the defenders in world football this is the best we can come up with. We need someone who can play in the first team. Not a back up!!
STUHILL Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 I bet he can't believe his luck. Not getting a game for a mid-table Udinese, yet he has just signed for the Premier League Champions
