Obviously hasn't been great in his showings, but can't write him off yet. Not sure he will feature much but I wouldn't want to sell him until the next manager takes a look. Could be a long wait after Shakey hauls us up to mid-table respectability & gets a fully deserved long contract!

Yeah, this is my problem with our Summer signings. It seems like we signed players for a 433 passing game (Hernandez, Mendy) with countering as well (Musa), but then abandoned it.
Horibbly Wrong Posted 9 March 2017 Posted 9 March 2017 somebody somewhere must have seen something in him.. i would like to give him some time to settle down, but he does seem to be very limited as a player from the little I've seen.. it'll be a case of whether he will be willing to stay and fight for his position next year. Amazing to think what would have happened had we bought him instead of Kante 2 years ago

I'm far from loving Andy King but it would scandalous if he was dropped for Mendy on what I've seen so far. Mendy just looks like a very average, limited footballer, plenty of them about and we won't be the first or last to spend a few million on one. He certainly doesn't look like he'll ever fit into a team who plays at a high intensity.

He is a good cover option but Ndidi is simply a better player. Why are all the crap players dubbed 'Claudio' signings and all the good ones 'Walsh/Pearson signings'. Its so bizarre. It would be Walsh and the scouting team that did all the detailed research on Mendy and Musa and reccomended Claudio sign them. Just because Claudio agreed to have them doesn't make them 'his' signings.
RowlattsFox Posted 9 March 2017 Posted 9 March 2017 Ndidi, Drinkwater, Amartey, King all probably ahead of him in the pecking order, even when he is fit. He does the simple things well, but not dominant enough, so far anyway. Probably decent in a 3.

AmarteyAndChill Posted 9 March 2017 Posted 9 March 2017 He was in the Drinkwater 'we are staying up' video.
les-tah Posted 9 March 2017 Posted 9 March 2017 Mendy was never the player for 442 he was always that makelele role and cover the back 4 with positional sense and dictate play. Just hasn't worked here for him here and tbh he was only as bad as the other players when they were crap this year. Apparently Nices midfield was the best in France last year and there must be a reason why hes represented France from U18 all the way to U21, he must have talent. P.s he was in Dubai he was in the drinkwater video with the stars on his shirt.

Kingy never lets us down when we need him, and then slots back onto the bench without kicking up a fuss when people are picked in front of him. He's done a great job for us for a decade now, and you need squad players like that. Why people still actively look to put him down is beyond me, he's a Leicester legend.
Koke Posted 9 March 2017 Posted 9 March 2017 It's quite worrying that 2 years after NP left 10 of the 11 starters for us were signed pre-Claudio. We've spent over £70m in 16/17 but only Ndidi gets a look in.
J.Lisemore Posted 9 March 2017 Posted 9 March 2017 Beat guess is that he'll be at Marseille or Lyon in the summer. Some come off, some don't. Maybe harsh to write him off just yet but from what we've seen I can't say what he's specifically good at.

Don't get me wrong, I've not been immensely impressed by Mendy so far but King's value to us is basically 95% sentimental. If King was a recent signing not our own product there'd be queues forming to drive him back to wherever he came from.

Swarles Barkley Posted 9 March 2017 Posted 9 March 2017 Can this **** just become good. Desperately want a run out of WOOP WOOP ITS THE SOUND OF NAMPALYS, WOOP WOOP ITS THE SOUND OF A BEAST This fvcker is messing up a huge chant potential
foxy boxing Posted 9 March 2017 Posted 9 March 2017 Where's our Mendy gone, where's our Mendy gone? IT'S BEEN SO LONG, IT'S BEEN FOREVER LONG
Lovejoy Posted 9 March 2017 Posted 9 March 2017 I totally get why Shakey is sticking with last season's team where possible. We need to establish safety as soon as possible and this is the most obvious way of doing so. I also think that everything about our season so far has probably made it very tough for new signings to settle in. Ndidi has done well, Slimani has shown glimpses, but none of the others seem to have clicked. Hopefully a happier and more stable training ground will see the likes of Mendy settle down.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 9 March 2017 Posted 9 March 2017 He looks like he can wrecking-ball about a bit, he doesn't look like he has a clue how to play football though.

Claudio wanted Mendy over Kante originally after working with him at Monaco. He was then talked in to Kante by Walsh but reverted back to singing him when we lost n'golo. I am not blaming Claudio just saying it was one of his signings and maybe Shakey thinks he's shit?

Mike Oxlong Posted 9 March 2017 Posted 9 March 2017 In the tesm bonding sessions in Dubai during a game of hide and seek Nampalys went and hid under a pile of bed linen at the bottom of a laundry chute. No one bothered looking for him and some days later, he's still hiding, thinking that he's really impressed his team mates
TJB-fox Posted 9 March 2017 Posted 9 March 2017 Can't see him progressing here now unfortunately. Real shame as I think he clearly is a talented footballer and apparently a good leader, just doesn't suit our playing style. Criticism is harsh but hasnt played well when given the chance
