shiv Posted 9 April 2017 Posted 9 April 2017 Atletico have a genuine world class player in Griezmann, which we've not yet faced in this competition. Will be the toughest we've faced, but just going to enjoy the occasion!
Poznan34 Posted 9 April 2017 Posted 9 April 2017 Pressure is all on them and anything can happen in 90 minutes! Come on!
FoxinNotts Posted 9 April 2017 Posted 9 April 2017 They're a great team, make no mistake. A sum of their parts too. Need to keep an eye on Correa who usually comes off the bench. Also both of their full backs are quite brilliant.
boobagab Posted 9 April 2017 Posted 9 April 2017 A couple of players need to watch out because they're a yellow away from suspension (I'm looking at you Vardy). I wouldn't want to go into the second leg knowing he's suspended.

lee7 Posted 9 April 2017 Posted 9 April 2017 I'd like to think that we can take them back to our place still in the tie but I've thought ever since the draw was made and even more so after today's performance that they will embarrass us. Both teams generally play counter attacking football but they have a lot more quality amongst their squad. Give them a chance and they'll bury it. The thought of Benny playing against Griezmann terrifies me after watching him jumping in today.
HighPeakFox Posted 9 April 2017 Posted 9 April 2017 One word (or a form of it) gets used way too much in this forum - embarrassment. For goodness sakes, football is a lot of things, but embarrassing it ain't. Either that or some of you are easily embarrassed.

jim5000 Posted 9 April 2017 Posted 9 April 2017 An away goal and to stay in the tie would be ideal. It's a real shame for Big Wes that he won't be taking part :-\

No but we have faced many genuine world class players over the last two seasons, and when we are on some we can keep the likes of Aguero and Hazard quiet.
EnglishOxide Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 It's going to be quite a spectacle seeing that suave sexy, suited and booted bastard Diego Simeone standing next to our double chinned tracksuit manager on the touchline. Pure Leicester City.

STUHILL Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 If we can keep it to under a 2 goal deficit at worst, then I think we have the ability and desire at home, to really turn the tie on it's head. Obviously an away goal would be incredible but that won't help if we concede 4 or 5! I don't think we will, but we have to defend incredibly well and take our chances. I expect to see a flat out Vardy and Okazaki and being more solid at the back with Simmo and Fuchs back. I'm confident we can keep it tight and we always have a goal in us. I think yesterday was a wake up call for Shakey in terms of defending set plays and I think we will be a lot more solid come weds with Benny learning to grab hold of his man!
Lambert09 Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 Has it ever been known that a team purposely plays bad in an area of strength to throw off the other side? We tell our lads, don't mark at corners, don't jump, don't get near them. Then Athletico focus on targeting that and it's actually an area we can deal with them with relative ease? Just struggling to understand how we could defend that terribly. Probably the worst we've played at the back all season and that's one hell of a statement. Maybe Shakey wanted us to be shit so they underestimate us like Sevilla did. P.s this isn't a serious post, I realise we were just a pile of wnk
kingcarr21 Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 We will punish these. Okazaki to absolutly run them ragged. I can see a Man City away type performance and the same score. 1-3 to us with an early goal for us to settle the nerves. Albrighton to play a blinder. Whatever happens we should be unbelievably proud of our team the last few seasons.

We can't get embarrassed in this competition any more - we literally have nothing to lose. We are going to get the biggest slice of prize money from England, we have done better than every English team and we are here on merit. If we get hammered, could a Spurs fan question it? No because his side limply went out in the group stages. Pride of England - I love that because it riles up the plastics.

P.s this isn't a serious post, I realise we were just a pile of wnk Clearly you weren't being serious but to take that point up - our concentration levels were poor yesterday. Earlier in the season they were poor and we performed badly at set plays. when our intensity is at 100%, our concentration levels rise. Going to be the toughest game most of these guys will have ever played in. super human effort required to stay in the tie but dont assume atleti will roll over at the KP like Sevilla did. They perform away from home just as well as they do at the Calderon. That's why they have made two of the last three finals. just hope their players are a tad complacent, despite simeone's instructions.
Nick Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 Atletico 2 Leicester 3 Vardy with a brace and Ndidi 35 yard screamer. I really do think we can do some damage on Wednesday this is our season right here right now.
