I'd have thought a better holiday slot as DoF is when the transfer window is shut.

Gibson looked very average to me last season, but so did Keane to me this time last year and I genuinely consider Stones one of the worst defenders in the league so what do I know?!

What everybody but Man City does?

You said the 'English premium' inflates the price to make Gibson worth 25mn.

You can quote more than one individual comment but after years on this forum I still haven't worked how!

It inflated Maguire to cost £17m overall, not sure what more I can say?

Doesn't quite sit right with me taking a photo of the bloke on his holiday. Not to mention he looks like he's working, hardly sitting back trying to get a tan.

True but no doubt most wouldn't have believed it without seeing some photographic evidence.

Agree with this. Yes we all think he's a plonker but he's also got a family and needs to relax himself simply because of the high stress job he's involved in. Having said that, does seem a funny time to go on holiday for someone with such a role?

I say fair play to him. Obviously looks to be working despite on a lounger. Are you all factory workers lads?

Scariest thing is those sandals, **** me. What are those?

Good for him, id much rather have a refreshed DOF doing deals than a stressed/overworked one.

Hes on his laptop and has his phone next to him, people need to get a grip! Everyone, including him will be back at the club next week. Simples.

Fair enough he may be able to do his with a laptop and a phone, but doing it in public next to a swimming pool is hardly the most proffesional way to go about his business.

He's paid well, he should be able to stay around the office in the most important time period for his job.

Maybe we are looking too deeply into it. Especially after the shambles of last summer, you'd think they'd go above and beyond to make up for it this year.

If anything that photo has given me more respect for him. He's on his holiday and he's still working, trying to get players in...

Execs don't need sit to at a desk all day any more. A laptop & a mobile is all that is needed

I'm sure the shortlist of targets and back up options would have been sorted a long time ago, what more could Rudkin really do around this time anyway other than put the feelers out or test the water with a few agents and clubs. We probably have a verbal agreement or two with a couple players under the radar. Patience is a virtue :)

Lets hope we do have a 'shortlist' and not a 'Sh*tlist".

I'd rather he was on holiday, we might get something done then if Shakespeare is allowed to do old fashioned manager type things and sign fcukin players.

He's 4 hours away, if he was in Scotland nobody would bat an eyelid and it would take the same amount of time to get back in a car.

As for whether it's professional or not, it's only unprofessional if he's giving details away. It's no different to walking down the street in London and answering your phone.

I doubt he's sat there like Dom Jolly "HELLO, YEAH I'LL ACCEPT £30M FOR MAHREZ".

I don't have kids so I'm not up on the topic of school holidays but perhaps his kids have finished school and he didn't want to drag them out or something.

Tell you what, if we do miserably in this transfer window we can lambast him then!

I understand what you're all saying, he can do his job with just his phone and his laptop, but just look at the photo and decide whether that's how you want our transfers conducted. No wonder our rivals are stealing a march on us!

How would it be any different if he was hunched over his desk in an office? He'd still be sat there in front of his laptop doing the exact same thing, just in a worse mood as he's not in the sun at the same time.

Besides, for all we know he's sat there playing Minesweeper.
