His record in the Champion's league is decent though

Very. Did well enough in Italy for Real to buy him back. Decent record for Spain too and still only 24.

Is it?  Age works in his favour, yeah, but you're only as good as your last match and you have to go back to the 14/15 season to find him making any major impact in the CL.  Still, like I say I'm mostly flying blind on this one and stats only tell you so much of the story but my first impressions are that Madrid have had Chelsea's pants down getting £60m for a substitute they themselves forked out £25m for last season.  The money laundering comment above certainly seems apt.

I like Oxlade-Chamberlain, he'd be a cracking player if utilised correctly. I still think we should have gone in for him last summer- he was well out of favour, and I think the euphoria surrounding the club and CL football (plus £100k per week) might have lured him.

Let's hope that if Sanchez goes to PSG .... Man City don't stop the Nacho deal ... it's possible if they were targeting

Sanchez and think it leaves them short up front.

Nahh they'll just spunk £40m+ on someone else. Ian Nacho wouldnt be that far out the door if he were in their actual plans.

It being Man City too and their attitude to money though I doubt they'd exercize that clause unless he starts tearing up the League and banging them in for over a season. They always have outrageous names and wonderkids to chase

I'd like to think we've already signed him and are just waiting for the right time to announce.

This story is odd. Firstly, why is £10 million a fair bidding price but £12 million not? Why are Arsenal holding out for £2 million more on a player I doubt they want or, even if they do, cannot rate that highly?

Surely he's an upgrade on their current left-back yet don't want to spend an extra couple of million? Bizarre all round.

The amount of money Man City are spending this window is sickening - so much for financial fair play! I'm all for seeing exciting players in the league but the way they throw money about is vulgar and classless.

To be honest I hope that Man City / United / Chelsea don't win the league for this reason. I really do not like Spurs as a club, but you have to respect that they can play so well without spending more money than some countries GDP's on players.

All this reminds me of is how much of a miracle our title win was.

The lad they are buying now only got bought by Monaco for £10m last summer! It's pure laziness.

Ridiculous too how they claim to have one of the best academies in the country when they never give them a chance in the first team. Maybe they have a £50m player in their own academy but they would never know as they never get a chance to prove themselves.

Rant over! lol

Hopefully Manchester City, somehow, fail to finish in the top three or win a trophy - to show that over-paying for various players doesn't guarantee success.

Possibly going to get slaughtered for this, I know, but with what Manchester City in particular are doing in terms of chucking mass amounts of money about - think Tottenham's stance of having confidence in their young players and not pushing the boat out by offering huge sums for players elsewhere, is one that should be looked upon by other teams (look at what they (clubs in general) have, focus on developing the youngsters etc and hopefully they're able to help the team compete on all fronts furthermore).

i do think Man City's spending is a little crazy as I've already stated on here their starting back 4 plus keeper could alone be nearly £200 million in transfer fees

also i don't think its a choice from spurs to have confidence in the young players i think its more the fact Daniel Levy ain't either willing to pay the fees being mentioned for players or break the tight wage structure they have there

SO they have a 50 million quid left back, a 50 million quid right back and a 50 million quid centre back. The worlds most expensive goal keeper.Fook me, if I am writing those sort of cheques I want to go the whole season without conceding a single goal.

Also they have about 700m to stump up for a stadium. How do they manage to afford that? Genuine question, does anyone know how it is financed? Surely they'll be massively in debt.

Their nett spend over the past few years is pretty low. One of the lowest in the league. They will rake in a lot of money from the corporate side on the new stadium. They have even made money on buying/selling the cranes used to build the thing !!

Just like Arsenal, who are sitting on piles on money despite having a much higher wage bill than them and also building the emirates,, they will be fine for money, despite the outlay (of which the majority will be paid back over time like a mortgage).

I think they’ll own a very small part of it, it’s part of a massive redevelopment project for one of the few remaining corners of London that hasn’t yet had a facelift. So council tax there will have stumped up a fair Whack for it I’d imagine.

They've also signed lucrative contracts with the NFL and the complex will include units they can lease to hotels, restaurants, gyms and casinos.

It’ll be pretty self sufficient by all accounts.

The main input from local government is re the upgraded station and areas around the ground. I don't think the taxpayer has put anything much into the actual stadium complex. Approx 350m has already been spent by the club and the 400m balance will be loans from banks. I read that they hope to exceed the 400m deal that Man City got from etihaad re naming the stadium. Crazy sums indeed!!  the more I think about it the more I realise we have been punching so far above our weight the past two seasons and I wonder where there is for us to go now.

Mad isn’t it! We should be incredibly proud but also slightly worried. If we moved stadiums I think the owners would be too attached to their own brand to sell rights... I might be wrong.

Anyway back to Spurs, they’ve done no business and even lost a key player and still long strong as ever lol big season for them... if they get nothing again this year they’ll lose 3 or 4 of the main group
