A massive :appl:for Slimani tonight.

Excellent throughout, first half dropping deep his link play was fantastic, second half yet again more good link play along with good movement and two goals. Was our best player in Pre Season in my opinion along with Maguire, another good outing for him tonight, it would be an absolutely ridiculous decision if we sold him.

Slim gets goals, keep

 - So many kicks to no-one or out towards the full backs and over their heads for a throw-in. Hardly fantastic.

  I'm really sure we watched a different game. He spraid the ball out to start quite a few attacks and/or won throws for us because their full backs panicked with Gray an Musa running at them. It was his quick throw out that started the move that Gray scored from.

He made a couple of solid saves, keeping hold of the ball. (Good positioning for these). He also took 5 or 6 well driven crosses comfortably. Solid in my opinion.

We'll have to agree to disagree fella.

Great second half, thoroughly entertaining. Far more urgency which unsettled their defense. King played a big part in that I feel.

Slim had a perfectly good hattrick taken from him, Gray finally showed some top skill in scoring and making a goal (keep that up Demmy) and Musa...well what a resillient and hardworking performance despite the lack of end product. A nuisance all night and rightly rewarded with a goal.

Chilwell though I feel needs a proper rocket up his arse. His defending and decision making was just not on. He needs to remember that when he plays at full back in this team, his first responsibility is to defend well. Don't take risky touches and be a smartarse in possession. He got caught out several times and we would have been punished far more by a better side.

I don't care how good he is going forward if he cannot do basic defending. There's a reason we don't play people like Gray and Mahrez in the full back positions...

Stringer: Well done for unpicking a back 3.  Some people have criticised your style of play for being unable to unpick a back 3

Shakey: Who?

Stringer: Well, er...us

Couldn't really be happier - after a nervy first half, everything just clicked 2nd half. Even Musa, who had just about the worst opening 45 minutes imaginable, played through his skin 2nd half and thoroughly earned his goal

Slimani, Gray, Maguire all brilliant. Everyone else very good - except Ulloa... didn't seem that bothered

Great to see Mendy getting on the pitch and Knight looked alright too. Very positive

I really hope we keep Slimani. It looks like he wants to stay. Shakespeare seems to fancy Ulloa over him and that I do not understand one bit. As usual Gray showed he has talent - but he needs to sort his grumpy face out. King, Amartey, Ndidi and Fuchs were very professional. So happy for Musa to score - and he did a great run to set up Slim for what should have been his hatrick. I reckon at the right club and played in the right position - with a bit of confidence he could be decent.

I know it's "only" Sheffield United - but that was a potential cock up. And we played well enough in the 2nd half that we didn't need to knacker any of the 1st teamers on the bench. And could give Mendy and Knight a chance. Job done.

I really warm to Shakey's honesty in interviews. I hope we all feel the same when he's doing it on the back of some

of the bad results that are bound to occur from time to time this season.

Same here. Love to hear him interviewed.

That Brooks for them looks a decent player

I think some people tonight have been indoctrinated by the Sky commentators salivating over him.  He looked about 12 years old and played in a team that lost 4-1.

Disappointed that when Shakey was asked "Do you want to keep Slimani", he answered "Well he's here"

Yeah not a great answer on a couple of levels.

And of different ethnicities. The man will implode.

Not only that, but they're both Muslims! Probably the final straw for this country.

(In fact, one of them even has the cheek to be called "Islam"! Imo, it's shocking that he's forcing his religion on us)

I think we did, but I'm heartened to see most on here didn't see his good distribution either.

As for the saves - fair enough, reasonable positioning, but they were bread and butter stops, not too powerful and straight down his throat. The one time he was really extended he went over the ball and only just got away with it.

Starting to think Chilwell will never be up to snuff. His defending is just awful. I know he's young still, but so much of defense is effort, he just doesn't seem as interested as he should be.

Thought we played some lovely stuff second half, the movement from the forwards was excellent at times.

Well done to Shakey for getting the best out of them after the break. Great to see Musa score and I thought Slim wad excellent.

Slimani was very impressive. His hold up play and passing was brilliant and took his first goal very well. Should have made it a hat trick but was actually my MOTM.

Gray had a very decent game and we really should do our best to hold on to him, as he does have a very bright future. He suffers from what can only be described as 'resting bitch face' though, so constantly looks like he is sulking, even when he is not!

Strong games from N'didi, King, Maguire, Fuchs etc.

Amartey was useful as RB. Did everything asked of him and he is a beast of a man. I still think we need a more dynamic RB though, and still feel he should be tried at CB in these cup games.

Chillwell showed touches of class, but again made some defensive errors. If he can cut those out, then he will be starting in the prem before long.

Like others, I don't know what to make of Musa. He had moments of being god damn awful, to some glimpses of real class. Perhaps useful in these cup type games, but I will still put others ahead of him in the league, so I think if a decent offer or loan deal is available, then be tempted to move him on still. Wouldn't begrudge giving him until the Jan window though either.

Great to see Mendy back but we have to see more of him. Would have been nice to see him get longer. Did OK and still undecided on him, similar to Musa.

Ulloa battled hard, but he is still not good enough for us anymore and the whole debate of Ulloa over Slimani has rightly been chucked out the window! Sell in this window.

Harsh, he looked very bright in spells up against prem players.

Slimani could play the Vardy or Okazaki role if needed I think. Or as a 9 or 10 anyway.

Amartey looked comfortable.

Musa could be be a real weapon off the bench.

Mendy is nice and composed too. These 3 should have long term futures here, but loans for now may be wise.

Chilwell can do the hard stuff, just makes some naive decisions at times. With experience I really think he'll become a top player.
