Bournemouth Post Match 0-0

We have massively gone backwards since our title win.

I get the feeling we have some players in the squad who are way too comfortable, and just are not up to standard of what they were 2 seasons ago.

Football moved on, and Leicester City stood still.

Shakey seems to be reluctant to put any new signings in the first 11 bar Maguire.

Who is actually buying our players?

It seems like Shakey didn't want Drinky to leave.

Is he doing this out of principal to those above him?

You don't spend 32m on Slimani, 12m on Iborra, 15 on Musa and 25m on Iheanacho just for them to be sitting on the bench.

Something doesn't add up.

Shakey needs to get ruthless else the Thais will and he will be getting the boot quicker than he realises.

How have we gone away from what made us so exciting to watch to slow, poor in possession and one dimensional football of hoof and chase.

I do want it to work with Shakey but I feel a massive overhaul is needed now at this Football Club.

The board needs to ask serious questions of what's going on

Rudkin,Neville,Shakey,Stowell,Appleton, and a lot of the old guard in the youth set up needs replacing.

Were stagnating and have lost direction from top to bottom and change is needed now!

Obviously this is only my opinion on how I see things being ran at the moment.

Jammiest point ever against a poor Bournemouth side we made look good.

Tactics are just unbelievable at times. Definitely time for three in the middle.

Gray was a joke second half. Didn't look arsed and then comes over to the crowd trying to raise the atmosphere. **** off you lazy ****

Be lucky to stay up this rate.

Shakey to be gone soon

lol

I wondered how long it would be before 'super Gray' (who HAD to come in for Mahrez) was considered rubbish again..

Result wise, a point away from home is alright. Problem is that the performances are starting to get worse and we're now getting lucky to get something rather than earning points. I wanted Shakey to get the gig as i thought continuity would be crucial to the players, and i've always thought that as long as a team plays good football, is positive in their play, and you can see what they are trying to achieve then you should keep affording the manager time. However, the longer this goes on, especially against the likes of Bournemouth and Huddersfield, who we should be aiming to beat, then it's hard to not draw the conclusion that Shakey is the Premier League version of Rob Kelly.

Next 2/3 games are key. Butcher those and it's new manager time unfortunately.

If last week was bad this was terrible. I wanted the club to give Shakey a chance but tactically he's terrible. If we dont improve by the end of October, sadly a change needs to be made. We need to look at Tuchel or Ancelotti (probably won't come but worth a try).

I agree. Your post very much mirrors one I posted on another thread.

CS is clearly a good coach/no.2 but lacks the tactical awareness or flexibility to be a head coach/manager. Unless we win the next 2 or 3 games the change we should have made in the summer will have to be made.

Arsenal fair enough but by the narrow defeats to Chelsea and Liverpool do you mean the games in which we were largely outplayed and out thought for most of the match? Chelsea didn't even have to try to beat us and one player for Liverpool won the game for them on his ownand  despite the warning we received only three days prior we made no tactical changes to combat it. The scores may have been close but they mask a huge gulf in playing and managerial quality between us and those teams.

Probably because there is a gulf, as you'd expect.

What worries me I think he is to scared to change it tactically, I'm sure player power is still rife at the club with certain players demanding 4-4-2.

I'd hate it if Shakey was made the sole fall guy. The problems at the club go above him, particularly the Silva debacle and some of the signings we have made. If Shakey goes, Rudkin goes too imo.

It needs freshening up. There are too many 'comfortable' staff at the club I suspect.

Huddersfield away was bad but I believe today was worse! We really have no idea or direction..... A new style and formation is something we must try and we need to be braver in dropping certain players ie Albrighton

Let's be honest. Wingers don't dictate the game and need to be launched. By the midfield. When the latter is shit, they're bound to suffer.

Gray isn't responsible and did well considering the situation.

Whether it is player reluctance or a disconnect between those recruiting and those coaching how have we ended up with a midfield that consists of players accustomed to 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1,e.g. Iborra and Silva (when he finally gets to play) when we have a coach determined to persist with 4-4-2 which ain't providing results?

Absolutely robbed a point. We could have lost by 3 or 4 and it would have flattered us. Was ready to smash something at the half time sub - Iborra on and I thought he'd finally learnt, until they announced king off and it became clear that the management doesn't have a clue.

A few thoughts:

The team that finished the game should start the next. Nathan Ake is pretty good. These performances need to improve.

Agree with this. But Shakespeare is too cautious for that.

How can we have team of Mahrez, Gray, Iborra, Fuchs, Maguire, Iheanacho and Vardy and yet we can't keep the ball and strung 3 passes together.

I think we need a bit of perspective, Bournemouth are a really good side, they play far better football than us and have an effective midfield. They also play with purpose so it was always going to be a rear guard backs to the wall kind of game.

Nil nil is a great result for where we are as a club at the minute.

If we are classing that shite as a great result the we really are up shit creek. Might put a tenner on us to be relegated to soften the blow.

I saw King was starting in a 442 and decided to go out for the afternoon. Can't remember the last time I did that, years and years ago certainly. At best, we're a club going nowhere, but potentially we're plummeting to where we came from a few years ago, and with one of our better squads. Shakey not doing himself any favours if he wants this job.

That was dreadful and I think CS’s days are numbered but Rudkin et al haven’t done him any favours have they.

All last season it was evident we needed a serious upgrade in CM, forget about RB and CB we needed drive in centre midfield to get the team on the front foot. We bid £40 Million for Sigursson, get Iborra who seems a Defensive Midfielder, let Mendy and Drinkwater go, screw up the Silva deal and James gets injured.

If or when Shakespeare is shown the door there should be a few more joining him.

Simple.  Poor coaching.  If Howe were our manager, you'd see an immediate improvement.

Apart from Shakespeare who couldn't wait to line Albrighton up with Simpson again, a right side that is guaranteed to see us relegated (as I said pre season), anyone still think Albrighton is better on the right?
