Newcastle (A) Post Match Thread 2 - 3

He's still working hard and tying up 2 defenders though. He's well worth his place in the team.

Was about to say the same. The whole "He occupies defenders" thing can get mocked but he had two CB's cutting off angled balls to him all game whilst in front of them Gray and Mahrez ran riot. The LB and to a degree DM should track them but they had such a free reign to interchange they were pulled all over the place. The sign of a good team, that if you nulify one threat there's still others that can hurt you.

Yeah, fair enough. It's progress though- we dominated possession away from home and were worthy winners. That hasn't happened often enough in the last 18 months.

It really is progress. If we keep our best players in January we are going places. Long term.

A fortunate but just deserved win, but we nearly allowed a very poor Newcastle side  back into it.

Like how puel is trying to play a bit of football, with a few additions who can pass, the future looks good.

Negatives, it wasn’t a very good performance, sloppy at times, and better sides would have punished us, but fortunately Newcastle are as poor as they are.

And vardy really needs someone to join him quickly, as he’s so isolated.

Positives, mahrez and gray causing problems, and in the goals, winning when not playing great, and up to 8th.

 Onwards and upwards

Surprised at some of the stick Chilly was getting in the match thread. Yes he makes errors but the lad is quality for his age and is only going to get better. He really gives us something extra with his pace and forays forward. He's class for a 21 year old.

Great going forward,very average defensively.

I like the new NO hoofing it policy. Twitchy but very entertaining.

Agree. Takes time to ingrain it into our players mentality but we are getting there. Love Ndidi but he gives the ball away too often. Nonetheless I like how Simpson actually gets into the opposition pen box lol . With a fee more additions we can be a proper team.

Deserved a win just wish we wouldn't make such hard work of it. Game should have been killed off and yet again we don't clear properly from a corner. That said it was a lucky deflection but so was Demaris goal.

Ulloa was class when came on. And shinji despite doing his best to **** up at least helped force an OG.

Up to eighth and pushing on. Just need to get above ****ing Burnley now! lol

Chilly gets some stick because twice a game he does something really daft. But he is learning fast -I hope.

Vardy was a bit isolated but we are not playing as many balls up for him more of a distraction for the central defence odd system but it seems to work to a point.

The slow start and too many stupid defensive errors aside, which cost us the goals, we look a much more accomplished footballing side now under Puel. Add to that some individual brilliance at times and what seems to be a renewed, reinvigorated band of brothers spirit as evidenced by the desire to win and the celebrations at the final whistle, I think we can enjoy the rest of the season! :)

Only tuned in from the 65th minute but was frustrated how we don't really kill a move early on by fouling an opposing player.

More likely wait til the move has advanced far enough for someone to take a clumsy lunge.

Small gripe though, grinding out 3-2 away wins is what top ten teams are made of :scarf:
