First up I want to say well done to Newcastle. They clearly had worked hard on the training pitch and had a plan to play us, they implemeted that plan and every single one of their players looked like they wanted to win more than ours, and that hurts to say that. The performance today was a disgrace, not acceptable under any circumstances. They didn't look like they had practiced together at times let alone played together and they didn't look motivated at all.

Maguire lucky to stay on the pitch.

Morgan hopeless defending.

Simpson just terrible

Iborra useless

Diabate  someone tell him you don't get free kicks just for falling over.

Chilwell another poor game he used to run with the ball but now just stops and passes backwards. One decent cross but otherwise poor delivery as usual.

Albrighton poor

Mahrez starting to look like he's already playing for another club largely ineffective

 

Vardy yet again spent most of the time isolated. Silva was poor to start with but at least mede some forward passes and showed some quality, probably the best of a bad bunch.

 

What was it? One shot on target in the whole match. It didn't feel like more than that. Our corners were yet again useless (do we work on them at all?) and we're 2-1 down and they get a corner and we bring all 11 players back into our own penalty area.

Under Puel we might have more possession but we're just too passive especially at home. At least we're good at passing it sideways though.

I did write a few weeks ago that I torn with Puel. He could just as easily take this club down next season as not.

I was shouted down (surprise surprise) but games like today are the reason why I have no idea, with Puel, which way it will go.

We are not utilising our star players. They may as well not be playing. We can paper over the cracks with an away win at Brighton away but on the whole,I know,you know,we all know we are a poor shadow of our former self. I don't want to be doom and gloom but if we have this same stragedy next season where teams have sussed us out and we can't attack then we are fecked

It's not the players, it's our system. It's Puel.

 

Our style of play has become bland and predictable, we pass it around for x amount of times, somehow make it somewhere near the opposing box, then falter because no one seems to want to play the decisive pass. Our strikers, Vardy above all, become isolated, Okazaki's not linking up well with him any longer, we have no urgency or fluidity to our game.

 

The only thing that matters to Puel is possession-based football. He's had months to implement this style since he came along and it's mostly been a disaster. There is little end product, our most creative player went on a bit of a strike and hasn't got that freshness anymore that he once had.

The remaining players are too chicken to create anything. Our central midfield is chopped and changed on a regular basis - not only due to Puel's decision, I might add.

 

Numerous amount of games we've come out of the dugout with no desire to impose ourselves onto the opposition. We're easy to read and tend to throw first halves away like crazy.

It beggars belief.

 

And let's not forget that the Brighton away win was lucky, very lucky. Most home games have been a drab under Puel and I'm really fed up with the way we're playing at present. Nothing left of the counter-attacking excellence, players' confidence isn't the best anymore, even some of the most experienced players are now coming up with some of the most basic errors. Morgan today, for example.

 

I feel as if we're slightly regressing at the moment, for every step we make, we make one and a half back. That we're still 8th says more about the teams behind us than it does about our own qualities (or absence thereof).

What did you honestly expect this season? What do you want? Sack him?

 

You're one of the most sensitive posters here and I swear I have hard time to follow you. It was clear that season was a transition with a LOT of hit and miss games.

 

Weren't we utterly boring and predictable under Ranieri II and Shakey using the old system? Didn't surrendering possession show its utter limits? Weren't we playing great under Puel before Gray and Iborra went off the boil? 

Who gave Gray and Chilwell their chance? Who freed Mahrez from his defensive shakles? Who introduced Choudhoury for the first time? How many first halves under Shakespeare did we throw?

 

The counter-attacking excellence you and so much crave for was gone as soon as the midfield which launched them went to Chelsea and the other teams decided to give us the ball. It never has been the same since then, no matter how much you try to sugar coat it.

 

Yes it's a slow based possession but there is little to no end product because Puel's system demands modern FBs and a 10. We have neither. Chilwell whilst undeniably progressing, isn't ready and Simpson.. well, is Simpson. At home where every rival or crappier team comes for a draw we struggle and we still will. Using Morgan's colossal error of judgement to have a dig at the manager is absolutely ridiculous.

 

He has his own ideas about this team and was recruited accordingly. He's sticking to them and I won't judge him until he has at least a transfer window. 

 

The rest of the fans can feel free to slag him off.

Puel's post-match comments seem to suggest he saw it like we did (i.e. too slow etc) but the difference is he is responsible and can actually do something to change it. He is way too passive during the game, and the players seem to follow his lead.

I've had a lousy week. Then this morning I cracked a tooth and needed an emergency dentist. The car broke down on the way there and then I when I went to pay I discovered that my ex had emptied my account.

Then, just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, I was given one of those bloody free season tickets.

Players simply aren’t bothered about 7th. You can have your systems and your tactics but the urgency comes from the players. It was crap. Morgan an absolute clown on both goals. The first collectively was awful.

Sorry to sound cheeky but I predicted this. First goal went through a giant Ndidi-shaped hole in the backfield. Newcastle still have to play Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and had to get something from this. All anyone talked about the last week was the "match-for-7th" game against Burnley. What did you guys expect? Never look two matches ahead. 

 

Without the Ndidi-Iborra engine room Burnley will be a handful. 

 

Was good to see Silva get some game time and start getting up to speed. This was his best match so far.

Woeful display this afternoon with so many players not at the races (or probably were at the races). They know they are safe in 8th spot have no real desire or ambition to get any higher and so dish up this garbage. Massive shake up required if this Club is going to progress.

To be fair I didn't really think NU had anything to play for today but outplayed us nearly all game. They are now closer to us than we are to Burnley. Burnley went one-nil down and clawed back. We had 7th to play for but we looked like it was no real thing. Quite appalled by our apathy today
