The most unsavory part of the whole deal ...

 

Former owner Randy Lerner is on course to net a £30million windfall if Villa win promotion at Wembley. The proposed bumper payout was agreed during Tony Xia’s takeover of the club following relegation from the Premier League in May, 2016. The deal included a clause which would see Lerner net an extra £30m if they were promoted within three seasons.

 

Hope that comes out of their transfer kitty.

Villa deserve it, much the better team. 

Derby should have gone for it, can't understand why Marriott and Waghorn didn't start.

 

In the end it was too little too late, and another season in the Championship for Derby.

Shame Derby were terrible until 2-0.

 

Think Lampard will regret his team selection. Villa looked vulnerable when Derby got a focal point on in Marriott and got players buzzing around him. 

 

Villa will need strengthening at the back for the prem. Midfield is mostly premier league quality already.

Chelsea's transfer ban will change a lot of things now. Can see plenty of youngsters, including many playing today, being heavily involved next season.
