This - more than the transfer fee - is likely to be the biggest stumbling block in selling him (ditto for James, Musa, even King...). Personally I think if we haven't sold him by the end of next week then I can only see him going out on loan again. I think you're right. I can understand that people just want rid of him but it clearly isnt that simple. To our owners he represents a huge investment and now potentially a huge loss. Bearing in mind the club will have before them all the facts including his wages and any offers purchase or loan wise, they are shrewd enough to work out the best business deal for the club. If it has to be a loss, then they are in the best pisition to be able to mitigate it as best they can. If nobody is prepared to buy him or, only for a very small fee, they will be able to work out which course of action will enable them to recover the most amount of money in terms of his remaining contract and potential wages outlay.
FoxinNotts Posted 30 July 2018 Posted 30 July 2018 In all seriousness, I think out of him and Musa, Slim is the more likely to leave.

StriderHiryu Posted 31 July 2018 Posted 31 July 2018 Seems like there will be some movement here one way or another. Battle between Sporting and some of the Turkish clubs.

ozvaldo Posted 31 July 2018 Posted 31 July 2018 If we get a sensible offer and he wants to leave, let him fûck off.
Grebfromgrebland Posted 31 July 2018 Posted 31 July 2018 I don't think we'll ever off load slimani Mendy James benaluane ulloa. Even if they want to go well ask for too much and end up keeping them.

They want more than that from at least three transfers involving Sporting players and they'll likely get more than that, too. So, c'mon, Sporting - present the goods (you know you've got it!) and Slimani's all yours again.
The Bear Posted 1 August 2018 Posted 1 August 2018 They want £50m from us, and they have got bob hope of getting anywhere near that.

From the BBC today: Sporting Lisbon want compensation of up to 197m euros (£175m) for three players who terminated their contracts and have since joined other clubs. Among the players is Rui Patricio, who joined Premier League newcomers Wolves. Sporting want 57m euros (£50m) for the Portugal goalkeeper, 100m euros (£89m) for Atletico Madrid winger Gelson Martins, and 30-40m euros (£27m-£36m) for Olympiakos winger Daniel Podence. Honestly doubt they'll get anything to be honest!

Ric Flair Posted 1 August 2018 Posted 1 August 2018 Anyway Sporting surely cannot field a strike force of Bas Dost and Slimani together?

Honestly doubt they'll get anything to be honest! They'll likely settle on compensation at some value agreed between the two clubs. Since we agreed a fee (€18m) with Sporting for Patricio before he cancelled his contract, it's hard to see them getting any more than that.

Honestly doubt they'll get anything to be honest! They've feck all chance of that figure. From a player/agent's perspective there is zero point agreeing a contract where in a gross breach by the employing club, as they were subjected to they with the training ground invasion, they are not allowed to enforce their termination without the club mudding the process and claiming absurd compensation fees (the cheek of asking for 57mil euros for a keeper they'd agreed 18mil euros for). If it was the other way around and the player had demonstrated a gross breach, a guess something along the lines of Hopper/Pearson/Smith as one example, the club could sack them no questions asked. Sporting are scum. Rant done. 1
Guest Posted 2 August 2018 Posted 2 August 2018 With him not being in the team for yesterday I think it's pretty sure we're on the verge of agreeing something. Probably end up being a loan but if we get a fee and his wages paid that's not so bad. There is no way we would have gone with Diabaté up front in the second half against Valencia if Slim wasn't on his way out.

Sporting are scum. Rant done. Of course, they won't get that kind of money. But my guess is, they will get some of that money from all other clubs involved. You can't allow other clubs to pluck some of your best assets without paying for it. And you can't just terminate a running contract before its expiry date without paying attention to all clauses, just because you feel like ending it. All three players could and should be held accountable for breach of contract. And their agent(s), as well. The real culprits and instigators of that training ground invasion story have still not fully been determined. What is clear is that it was a despicable act of violence and intimidation. Sporting are a mess, but so are the agent forces in Portugal. It's an eternal struggle. Only a few clubs can afford not to play a rigged game, where they act as the prostitute and agents as pimps. You could also see this story as an attempt to further undermine Sporting and its president, trying to force him into becoming a part of the "game", too.
