His first touch really lets him down and he often comes on and just looks very clumsy. At 32, and his style of play, he should still be able to do that role for us - and it would save us bringing someone else in and the cost of that. I just have doubts that he would be able to get back to anything like how he was for us previously. Perhaps that is why he still hasn't gone yet. According to several Saudi media today, the Algerian striker is now in advanced negotiations with the club Al Hilal. Club President Samy Al Jaber even met the player in London during the last hours and told him his desire and envy of his coach Jorgé Jesus to see him in blue jersey next season. For now, Slimani has not yet agreed to join Al Hilal but the Saudi press indicates that the player is interested in a new adventure in Saudi Arabia, he who refused to go to China a short time ago. I’d be well happy with this but unfortunately it doesn’t seem like we are reinvesting the money into the highest quality players to replace mahrez. I just don’t feel comfortable with our wide options in midfield at the moment. Let’s hope I’m proved wrong though. When mahrez threw his toys out the pram in January/February last year Albrighton/Gray/diabate hardly set the wings on fire.
