Good question lol how did we become good

Not just a bunch on any players though, even before this season.

A multitude of gifted highly rated youngsters.

WN

JM

BC

HB

YT

add to that former league winners

JV

KS

JE

Highly rated RP one of the RB in Europe even last season.

Under a Top Manager with have seen them all improve.

CS out of nowhere is one of the top defenders in the league.

Even KI who hasn’t had a sniff looks like a top player at the moment.

just to label the above a bunch of players comes across as disingenuous and doesn’t really give them the credit they deserve prior to this season.

Good recruitment and showing you don't always need to spend ridiculous amounts of money to get good players in. Get the right players in, not the expensive ones. Look at Arsenal and Pepe. £72m for a slimmer Adama Traore (pre this season lol

We should have changed that after we won the league to "Premier League champions, you'll never sing that."

Would have been great for three reasons:

1. Would have been accurate for muck like Huddersfield or whoever the hipsters like to remind you won the league.

2. Would have really pissed off the FoOtbAlL dIdNt StArT iN 1992 melts.

3. Would have been hilarious to sing to Liverpool at the time.

Can I ask on here why some people type crap like above in a mixture of upper case lower case is it vogue or is it someone wanting to be different? Would have the same impact if it was written in SrNDarD tEXT

Seen a lot of "Leicester have been lucky" posts and tweets. Either about our xg or the fact we've played 8 bottom half teams on our 8 game run.

It's almost like this run doesn't stretch back to March last year...

Screenshot 2019-12-09 at 13.51.06.png

I see a lot of those "lucky Leicester "comments too, but it's obvious those people don't watch our games and/or are very biased  (most of football supporters are to some extent ).

This feels a bit like 2015/16 again, remember how "lucky" we were back then? lol

One thing is different these days though! Now, as I read few weeks ago on Everton forum, we're lucky because VAR is on our side! lol

(has to be said, it was a minority opinion and some "LCFC supporter in peace" on there pointed out we werent very lucky against Liverpool).

Some people will always look for excuses and will come up with arguments that suit their agenda but most of the folks on that Everton  forum were reasonable and very complementary towards us.

There's even a "Why Leicester and not Everton?"thread which says it all really, where we are at the moment. And here's the most upvoted answer to that question:

The spine of their club is much better.

Rodgers is a great manager.

Vardy is a great striker.

They have a solid back 4 who recognise they need to defend well.

They recruit sensibly at sensible prices.

They do everything better than us.

It's used to infer a mocking tone.

The last time Vill a won Div 1 (never won Prem) was 1981, the previous 6 were in Victorian times, living in the past as usual, who cares about the past!!

1894, 1896, 1897, 1899, 1900 & 1910, bet there was not much oppersition then, 71 years till the next one.

Lots of opposition forums have posts like "Did Leicester really just chant 'Champions of England, you'll never sing that''  to XXXXX?"

FFS, don`t they know that XXX won the Audi cup???

Hahaha brilliant. Love it when clubs like that lot and Burnley claim they've been footballing powerhouses in the past when they won a league with approx 5 clubs competing literally 60 years ago lol

I mean it's a great question!

For me it's the balance of the team, and it's an eerily similar situation to 15/16 despite playing a totally different way. Man for man we have great players, but other teams have better players in certain positions. Where we excel is in teh blend between our players. For example Evans and Soyuncu are a dream pairing. One is fast, reads the game really well and takes the initiative to make challenges, whereas the other is all about positioning and keeping calm under pressure. Then look at our midfield - it has everything; bite with Ndidi, able to run the game in Tielemans and then moments of magic and deadly through balls in Maddison. You couldn't ask for anything more in the central areas. Our fullbacks are fast and athletic, and can get their foot stuck in, and each one offers an outlet on each side. Our centre forward is as clinical as they come.

The 15/16 team also had amazing balance with the back 4 compact and able to squeeze space so only high balls could come in which Huth and Morgan could deal with. Kante won the ball back, Drinkwater distributed it. Okazaki filled in as an extra body, Mahrez and Vardy were the threat on the break.

To see not one but two teams with this much balance in a 5 year period is mind boggling really. I can't stress how hard it is to find this sort of team balance, even with money at your disposal. Barcelona in Spain for example are top of their league but don't have the same balance despite having Griezeman, Messi, Suarez, etc.

Sunderland were bad for this, not won the league for 80 years yet claim they are a “massiv clerb” based off success when Victoria was still chilling on the throne. Makes their current situation even more funny
