As Claude has said that football takes a back seat to commemorating Vichai on Saturday, I wonder if we should put out a team against Cardiff mostly made up of players who have known and worked with him the longest ? eg:-

Schemichel

Simpson

Morgan

Maguire

Fuchs

Ndidi

Mendy

Albrighton

Gray

Okazaki

Vardy

It still is a pretty decent side ?

He said the result doesn't matter, which is true but I doubt he'll play a weak side just for the sake of it. If anything Vichai would want the strongest team possible. Understandable though if some players are mentally fitter than others though.

No. We could be in trouble if we do, we are required to pick a competitive side in every prem fixture

I think a team like that would not be considered uncompetitive by the FA.  Only Simpson has not played this season.  Fuchs is not a regular, but has made appearances and everyone else has been a starter.

I think we could win with that lineup.

I get where you are coming from but can't help thinking that to put out what might be regarded by some as a weakened side against Cardiff could be seen as a disrespectful to them.  They have been fantastic to us his week  and I wouldn't want us to do anything to change the respect that has grown between the two clubs and groups of fans.

We could, but we won't.

Every single one of our players has been signed/brought through the academy under Vichai's ownership, except for Andy King. Every single one of them has had close interactions with him and every single one of them will want to go out there and put in a performance he'd be proud of - both individually and as part of a team.

The players will be aware that they can't all play, and whilst obviously this will be an emotional occasion I get the impression that collectively they want to make this season something special, that can live long in the legacy. We'll be putting out as strong a lineup as possible - so long as they players are in the right frame of mind for it - and aiming to win it for Vichai.

Best side, playing the best they can.

Fans supporting the players, the team, the club, the family.

... thats how we can display respect.

I don't think calling it a commemorative team is quite right. I do think there's a chance he will choose to bring in some longer term players for this game though. With the Amartey injury he's got to bring someone in, Simpson is possible but Perriara is probably still ahead of him. I can't see Ghezzel and Nacho starting, so would expect at least 3 changes from the West Ham game.

There are some genuine shouts for some of the longer term players in any case. Morgan has started when not suspended most of the time. There's an argument that either Fuchs or Simpson playing and either Chilwell or Perriara moving forward gives a more balanced back 4 than playing Chilwell and Perriara as full backs.

Surely Vardy comes back in. For me Gray, Albrighton and Okazaki are all ahead of Ghezzel for this game too.

While I think we would all love nothing more than to see the Immortals walk out onto the pitch together, string together some sort of stirring performance, and walk off with 3 points - I don't think it's going to happen.

Got goosebumps thinking about it, though.

The best commemoration we can make to Vichai in this fixture is to put out the team most capable of winning the game.

Almost word for word what I was about to post.

No chance. Can't see us rolling out a weakened side of any sorts, all of the lads have unanimously said they want this fixture to go ahead. And like any other Premier League match it's Puel's decision to pick a team to win, no matter the occasion

Leicester City helicopter crash: Players chose to play against Cardiff - Jamie Vardy

Leicester City's players want to play at Cardiff so they can "honour" the club's owner who died in a helicopter crash, says striker Jamie Vardy.Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four other people were killed in the crash outside King Power Stadium on 27 October.

Saturday's Premier League match in Cardiff is the Foxes' first since the incident and manager Claude Puel has said the result is "not important".

But Vardy said: "For us as players, we want to get a positive result."

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 31-year-old added: "We need to make sure we go out there and honour his name and put in a performance that will hopefully get the win.

"We all spoke about wanting to play. It's what Vichai would have wanted and that's what we are going to do.

"It's going to be tough and very emotional and what the lads wanted to do was play this game and honour the man himself."

Tuesday's Carabao Cup tie between Leicester and Southampton at King Power Stadium was postponed after Saturday's crash, and has been rearranged for Tuesday, 27 November.

All Premier League games this weekend will be preceded by a minute's silence, and players will wear black armbands.

Srivaddhanaprabha's funeral will begin in his native Thailand on Saturday and could last a week. Puel said players would be given the opportunity to attend.

"It's been the hardest week of everyone's lives," said Vardy. "It'll be massively important we attend. We are a close-knit group and one big family and one of the main reasons for that is Vichai - so it's massively important.

"He wasn't just a chairman, he literally was part of your extended family."

No.

It's the premier league. Not a commemorative fixture.

Claude will pick a team that is strong enough to win but also in the right frame of mind. Therefore he may not decide his final line up until a few minutes before he has to submit the team.

We can't be in trouble. Everyone of those players are in our 25 man squad. The reason we have a squad is for the manager to pick the side he wants.
