Rutger Hauer, 75

I was about 13 at school and a teacher showed us Escape from Sobibor. A very powerful film, a memory that has stayed with me until now. It sparked my interest in WW2, something else that remains with me. He was such a great actor RIP

Blade Runner is probably my favourite film of all time.

His soliloquy at the end.

Martin Prince was a great character.

Will probably be killed of now, seems the way with the Simpsons when voice actors pass away.

Robert Mugabe, former President of Zimbabwe.

I punched the air and expect many thousands who suffered under his regime did the same.

One of the last true dictators alive until recently, one of the most vile people on the planet back in the days; surely a product of the colonization era, then running a nationalist project that went pretty much completely wrong.

Mass starvation, poverty, chasing white farmers out of the country (and with it decades of knowledge of agriculture in the area), crimes against humanity, mass murder of ethnic minorities, ruining the country's economy.

"The path to evil is paved with good intentions". Robert Mugabe in a nutshell.

May Zimbabwe rebound and finally turn into the country it deserves to be.

Absolutely.

I watched the Romesh Ranganathan show the other week where he visits "Zim" and the place seems lovely, as did almost all of the people he came across.  Hopefully they're on an upward trajectory so long as yet another power hungry dictator doesn't rear its ugly head, which so often seems to be the case.

Beat me to mentioning that episode. Enlightened me somewhat to see that they seem to be getting back on their feet after all the shite they've been through.
