I think the dilemma he would have going to CL club is the same as when he was at Monaco where he failed to establish himself. He knows he fits in well at Leicester and can spend 3 years show boating his skills in the best league in the world. If he continues to impress we would probably have a £100 million player to sell and at 24 would still be a very attractive proposition to the big clubs all over Europe. You never know we may be a CL club in 3 years time and he chooses to stay.

I cant be the only one who's supported this club long enough so that I just automatically assumed you meant 'Championship club' and wondered " Why on earth would he want to stay if we are relegated?" :-)

I would be surprised that the clubs don't already have a deal in place for Tielemans/Silva transfer.

I have a feeling something is very close to being agreed personally. Regardless of whether we get Europe or not, Youri seems to be a very clever boy. He will look at the run we are currently on & bare that in mind for next season.

its obvious Youri wants to play at the top in his career, however like others have stated he wont slot in the way he has with us at any other premier league club. We will build a team around him, Youri will see that. So even if he uses us as a stepping stone for a couple of years, he would of seen that players like Mahrez have been able to make big moves whilst playing for Leicester. Also it’s the Euro’s next summer & Youri will want to be a key player for whichever club he signs for to make the Belgium squad.

Imo I would be very very surprised if Youri isn’t our player come next season.

Granted European football aside we could be an attractive proposition to any young player. Clearly he's good enough for Champions League football but he has time on his side to get that.

- Our ambitions could be something he buys into and wants to be a part of, given new training complex is being built he may want to see how this pans out.

- Rumoured stadium expansions.

- We can pay him potentially earnings above what someone like a Tottenham may want to pay.

- Young and exciting team which he knows he can be a centre piece to

- An ambition to achieve European football.

If he signed and gave us 3 years he'd still have an opportunity to leave in his prime and go for the big time.

If he keeps up this form for a year in the PL, he'd have the pick of the crop when it comes to offers and first choice too.

I think he went elsewhere in the Summer to the 'top six', he would not be the first choice selection he is here.

He's a rarity in football at the moment, of a box to box midfielder. CMs generally specialise in defensive work or being creative. Youri has the ability for both.

That said I don't think it's a case of him wanting to stay here longer - it's more if Monaco think they can get more for a transfer fee / if we can afford it.

I think its all going to come down to Silva. If Monaco see him as a top transfer target then I think we will get YT, it may be costly but id be happy with overpaying as we know what we are getting.

Overpaying for an unknown quantity is one thing but we know what he can offer us.

My worry is that Monaco will have players that they think are an upgrade on Silva and will want the YT cash to go and get them.

Silva is playing out of skin there.

The manager knows him and every player has their price to a club

Silva will be a valuable bargaining chip.

The ultimate decision will be Youri's, if he is sensible he will come here, if he listens to his agent he will go to Manure.

Unfortunately, I suspect the decision will largely be out of Youri`s hands. His stock is rising for sure, so a bidding war would suit Monaco nicely, and although I initially thought the Adrien card might buy us some collateral, Monaco are also aware we don`t want Adrien and would sell him regardless of Youri. I hope I am wrong and Youri coming this way is a pre-condition of Adrien's transfer, but....

Wishful thinking. You've just talked yourself into that :D . Still, I hope it comes true.

he is almost like the new Mahrez in terms of his ability and fills the massive gap left by Riyad.

Even he signed and stayed a year or two it is only going to progressive his career which he should also realise.

Pretty confident we will get him singed up.

Sauce @Dr The Singh ?

Every time I see this topic at the top of the Transfer forum I think Bollocks, big clubs after our players! Then I remember that he isn’t our player and we’re try to sign him :)

This sounds like good news.

Sounds more like speculation than "news".

It would be nice to see both clubs scratch each others backs to get this deal done quickly though.

Would be great if he joined but a lot depends on which if any of the top 6 lose a key player (if any).

Tielemans would be good fit for us and hopefully we can convince him we are a good club to develop his career for a season a la Kante.

IMHO, a move to the top 5/6 would be a bad idea as he wouldnt get the consistent game time if he has a few bad games.  Think young players like him are better suited for mid table teams looking to break top 6. Gives him guaranteed play time for decent clubs and to continue to impress and establish himself as a force in the prem league. The top 5/6 will always be up there so holding out another season or two is a better option.
