Slimani simply isn’t good enough technically to do that, the ball just bounces off him and he loses possession. If he’s not scoring, which he didn’t often enough, he’s useless - you can’t let the whole team suffer because of him, especially if reports are true and he can’t shoulder the blame himself. 

Maupay would have done the job imo. Unlikely he'd come here to be Vardy's understudy though.
