justfoxes Posted 9 April 2019 Posted 9 April 2019 Regarding Riyads first season at Man City Robert Huth gives his verdict, Love the comment “ He’s done ok but not pulled up any trees !!” But he’s quite honest on his future !! https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/robert-huth-delivers-verdict-riyad-2737326
Simoken Posted 9 April 2019 Posted 9 April 2019 A whole lot of nothing really.. Almost as bad Ladbible on FB, clickbaiting
RoboFox Posted 9 April 2019 Posted 9 April 2019 Not a criticism of you, OP. But christ... An "article" comprised of about three sentences, most of which are direct quotes. Clearly desperate for clicks. The Merc website really is the ultimate bin-worthy garbage, isn't it? Absolute pap.
Gamble92 Posted 9 April 2019 Posted 9 April 2019 The last post i did slating the mercury got me alot of abuse. Almost as if Rob Tanner has 30 accounts on here But **** me. What a load of shit that site has become. Not only is it riddled with advertising to the point where you cant see articles, theres always a pointless survey and by the time you read the article you are never satisfied with the content. Absolute shit show
glenny_fox Posted 9 April 2019 Posted 9 April 2019 Just to recap: The Mercury are that desperate they have created an article (it's not) of Huth saying that Mahrez has done ok but can do better. Cheers for that deep and meaningful insight.
stripeyfox Posted 9 April 2019 Posted 9 April 2019 I never click anything if it links to the Mercury. The website is abysmal and if you can manage to pick you way through all the adverts there is very little of substance to read. Same applies to Mirror/Sun/Mail websites etc
hackneyfox Posted 9 April 2019 Posted 9 April 2019 He was on Radio 5 this morning. When asked about Tieleman's he said 'why wouldn't he want to sign for Leicester ??' and went on about potential at the club.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 9 April 2019 Posted 9 April 2019 Do you work for Merc or something, terrible article and love Huth but not exactly insightful either

Leicester are a great option, but it will depend who else is sniffing around, so that will answer why wouldn’t he want to sign for Leicester question
ALC Fox Posted 9 April 2019 Posted 9 April 2019 In print, something like that would've ordinarily been hidden away in a little box somewhere, or as a throwaway mention at the end of another article. We're only p!55ed off because it involves the effort of having to specifically click a link to read the content, answer a survey and navigate all the ads competing for our attention. It's sad but that's the way it goes if we want free news.

Every day theres a "bust up with two bbc presenters" when its actually a joke from one to the other. Is this what its become?

And reckon potential readers will in the future have to read the first two lines in the story and having to pay a certain amount to access the full article. How the Leicester Mercury is run now is quite sad, as it used to be quite a decent newspaper 10 years ago and further back.

They could turn a paragraph into a week long mini story.
That_Dude Posted 10 April 2019 Posted 10 April 2019 That was insightful. 1 minute of my life I'll never get back.
Out Foxed Posted 10 April 2019 Posted 10 April 2019 I love the comment - proceeds to post the most inane comment ever are you a simpleton?
boots60 Posted 10 April 2019 Posted 10 April 2019 FACT Without Robert Huth we wouldn't have escaped relegation in 2015, which means we wouldn't have won the league in 2016

Absolute shit show The mercury is shite. Usually with a news site underneath the story will feature relevant links to other recent and linked news article... like Puels thoughts last summer.... The problem is the company (trinity mirror?) who own it just want click baiting income from all of their local news sites.

Especially his classic to sink the spuds.

The OP will be someone from the Mercury, or know someone from the Mercury, and is just trying to drive traffic to their website. I've heard from someone in the industry how desperate places like the Mercury are for clicks nowadays. There will often be a leaderboard put up in the office and if reporters don't get a certain amount of clicks on their stories in a month, they're in trouble. It's the reason we now get terrible, non-story clickbait sh*te like this so often. Quite sad really.
