Simpson - Leaving

I've said this before, but I just loved how during the 15/16 season, he was consistently targeted as our 'weak link' by fans of other teams.

Right before we played them and beat them.

This will leave a tear in your eye...

The section on feeling at home and part of a family really sums up the squad. We'd picked up a lot of journey men, playing for new clubs every year or so, and gave them a place to put their all into and develop as people and players.

Nothing will ever rival that year, a title built on hard work and a never say die attitude.

That is the most genuine and heart felt message to a club i think ive ever read.

Seriously hope he gets a heck of a send off at the weekend

It did... I was in a taxi on the way home from work...slightly awkward..!

Surprised me hugely with his consistency in that season.

Hope he has a positive move and can continue his career at a decent level.

If Sheffield United want to stay in this division, they'll need to learn very quickly that you need to be able to keep clean sheets.

Wolves got 7th this year with what, 7? The times they are a changing. If Sheffield play with 3 at the back, they can still pay defensively overall but have stabbing fullbacks. That's point of the system.

Wolves got clean sheets because they play 3 centre halves that sit in, Neves that never leaves his own half and one of the best goalkeepers in the league.

Sheffield United are different and won't be finishing 7th.

Cruelly overlooked for any England recognition in my opinion. Even a training camp/squad member. Vastly underrated by those who didn’t watch him week in, week out. He’s right, he changed so much and it was great to see that.

I've absolutely enjoyed watching him play for us, his reading of the game, a remarkable back post covering defender.

Fortunately, one of the many stars that aligned in the title winning season was us having an Italian manager recognising a very Italian style defender

Finally, I enjoyed the fact he was always a bit mischievous. A nice little bit of edge, arrogance and tongue in cheek to his social media.

All the very best, Danny.

Sad to see him go, but fans in the lower sections are surely going to feel a lot safer now. No need to be vigilant at all times when the ball is played out of the back.

Better love story than Twighlight (Danny's Instagram post).

Yet another sign that Riyad has perhaps realized the grass isn’t greener.

Would welcome him back in a heartbeat. I’ll never feel any ill will for anyone that was part of that squad, Danny will always be welcomed back wherever he ends up next.

Without trying to come across bitter, Wolves park the bus a lot, hence the reason they struggle against lesser teams. They are good on the break and fairly solid at the back. I think next season will be fascinating for them. They might have the same syndrome we had in 16/17 I.e being found out.
