Rangers are on the verge of signing Leicester City stalwart Andy King on loan, according to a reporter at the Athletic.

Rob Tanner, author of 5000-1: The Leicester City Story, has claimed on Twitter that Steven Gerrard's side should conclude a deal for the player in the next couple of days.

Rangers are in talks with Leicester over a loan move for Foxes midfielder Andy King.

The 50-times capped Wales international is heading to Glasgow on Thursday to discuss terms and could provide further boost to Steven Gerrard's engine room.

King has seen game time dwindle in recent season and will be allowed to move out on loan by former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.

The deadline-day arrival of Belgian international midfielder Dennis Praet has further shunted the 30-year-old down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium.

King last played for City in the 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Newport County in January but has a vast amount of experience and is Leicester's all-time highest goalscoring midfielder with 62 strikes from 379 games.

Other than spells on loan at Swansea in 2017-18 and Derby County last season, he has spent his entire career with the Foxes playing in three different levels of the English game.

Rangers boss Gerrard has an abundance of options at his disposal in the middle of the park with Joe Aribo , Scott Arfield, Steven Davis, Ryan Kent and Glen Kamara all vying for a spot.

But with a huge season lying in wait at home and in European competition, Gerrard is determined to bulk up for the challenge.

Well considering Arfield and Kent are wingers (plus Kent doesn’t play for them anymore) would suggest they don’t have an ‘abundance of options’ - Kingy will probs be quite heavily involved if the deal goes ahead. Good deal for all.

Look At You !!

Bringing facts into the conversation.  It's a gutsy Move

Wish him well, a good choice in terms of sportive perspective. European football still going strong, contender for the league title. Probably guaranteed match practice.

King brings with him a vast amount of experience, good dressing room influence and a PL title.

You go show them oop North, Kingy!

Not good enough for the premier league and too expensive for most in the championship, it's a pretty good deal for Kingy, he'll have plenty of opportunities with their Europa League commitments. Will look forward to seeing how he gets on and hopefully he'll still get his much deserved testimonial here.
