England squad for Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria - Chilwell and Maddison

Recommended Posts

As a 21/22 novice in international football I would have thought it be in a players best interests to watch as much as possible about players playing with and potential opponents further down the line.

Strengths /weaknesses, where that player would fit in, tactics etc

just an opinion but makes sense to me.

I don’t think it’s the best way to impress the boss. I would have thought he might have been interested to see how the team that he supposedly wants to play in performed.

Perhaps he watched it in the casino? I've watched sporting events in them before, decent atmosphere

I disagree partly because Morgan and Albrighton had not left the England squad due to illness - just stay at home until the England matches are over so there is no chance of the papers making stories of it.

Why does it matter? He isn't playing, he isn't training, he didn't leave the squad through choice but through illness. If that illness doesn't preclude doing something else then why are the public worried. The newspapers want to sell copies but he hasn't done anything wrong.

And he certainly isn't required to watch the game live.

The funniest thing is that it is being suggested that he HAS to watch the game if he has any interest in playing for England lol

He's a young lad, who has a bit of money and a lot of spare time particularly within an international break. Lucky he didn't jet off to Dubai to be honest.

You'd want a player to be a prisoner in his home because he's not flown out with the national squad?  How about sinply rising above the gutter press?

All seems a bit pre planned to me, he knew he'd be noticed. Seems to enjoy being written about, that backpack was ridiculous but he wanted the headline. Likewise the ridiculous clothes he was wearing a few months ago in photos with a flash car. Searches for himself on twitter and is happy to get involved with personal criticism.

Having watched the England performance on Friday night, I'd have thought that almost any other form of human activity (as long as it's legal & harmless) would be preferable to that. Going to a casino - playing FIFA - looking at FoxesTalk - discussing Brexit - well, not the latter, obviously...

Cut the lad some slack.

Cant believe this is even 'News'.

What so the lad cant go out? He doesn't need to watch the game.

If anything he would be better to watch the game on the Saturday, after all is done and he could even have spoke to the players who played before then analyzing the game. So by all means go out Friday and let your hair down.

I really don't get what the uproar is.

There shouldn't be an uproar, but the point is, you can see how stories like this CAN become an uproar and can count against someone at certain points in their career when people want to dig this stuff back up.

There was nothing he did wrong in of itself. I don't mind players going out, going to casinos, do what you like as long as its legal, it doesn't compromise your ability to give your best performance in a match, and it doesn't portray the club negatively. That's fine.

But I think for him to be sent from the camp with an illness, and THEN to appear in the casino, it just sends a signal to people that want to spin it that way that he does have that arrogant side to him.

I just feel he would have been better advised to lay low on this occasion when the spotlight was on him, and just "recover" from the illness, i.e.stay away from attention until the international break was over.

Whats done is done now anyway but I think he could have shown more restraint and common sense

Hope he doesn’t delete it from sky planner then... Now that would be a story

You realise will be recorded and distributed to the players by England... or you actually think the players have to record them personally. lol

That's an interesting take on things. Could it be that he was sent home because of illness which he didn't agree with. Hence he made a public show that he's fine, knowing the tabloids would be all over it.

Almost certainly, if illness was even the reason.
