Of course he doesn't have to quarantine himself. But it would've been wiser IMHO to not go to a casino that weekend.

I can see why some might take issue with it, given he was called up, but it's not as if he was at a casino the night before a game where he was playing. Blown way out of proportion, I feel.
Dan Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 End of the day nobody will give a toss if he performs on the pitch, which is quite right.
Unabomber Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 I can’t see the problem in the slightest. He can do what he wants (within reason) and if he wants to play poker then I can’t see an issue at all. Surprise surprise at which scummy rag ran the story though.
foxinmyhouse Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 He got sent home so not to spread the virus to other players, unless the casino has the rest of the England squad there then I don't see the problem. If he's just got a simple bug like a cold then that doesn't mean he has to lock himself away and stay in bed for the next week. It could have been a lot worse. We could be in a tournament, a few days before playing one of our biggest games ever against Germany in a semi final and he goes out partying in a caravan with the sex pistols. Exactly what Southgate did at euro 96.

As expected. Compare that to the 1990 semi final, we fought hard we the wins meant something, there was excitement there was passion. This England set up is devoid of any of the afore mentioned things. It's cold and soulless and completely uninspiring, I don't know anyone that thought we would win that semi final after the walk through we had to it. Southgate, who is somehow, not good enough to manage Middlesborough, God knows how, finds himself in charge of the national team, he either has dirt on his bosses or just plain lucked his way into that position. What is weird though, is that people think he is actually doing a good job. Interesting opinion, personally I’d say Italia 90 was a boring tournament from start to finish. We scrapped through our group with one win against Egypt, beat a Belgian side who are nothing like the level of the current one in ET and then beat a Cameroon side who in Robson’s words “couldn’t play”.... I’d certainly not say it was any harder than the last World Cup. But then I was knee high to a grass hopper at the time so maybe I missed something. He is doing a good job, at least relatively compared to recent managers, some of his predecessors have been blessed with some of the best player we’ve produced and haven’t achieved what he has. It’s a results based business and he has got the results, that simple. He’s got to the last four of his last two major competitions and despite Friday night (which admittedly was a disgrace) we are qualifying for 2020 at a canter.

Italia 90 was so iconic though, not sure if it's just my era that thinks that but it was phenomenal.

LinekersLugs Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Stupid thing to do gambling is a real issue in modern football life

We did but against the Dutch and Germans we played our best teo games, but the worse the opposition the worse we looked. Did enough to get the job done, still can't believe Waddle's shot didn't go in in extra time.

Aus Fox Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Anyone know if Bec Vardy follows him on Instagram?
Donk Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Maddison should realise that going to a casino on such circumstances can be spun negatively. Theres nothing wrong with going out in of itself but youve got to consider the implications at certain times

I'm not saying JM did a 'bad thing' - I just think it would've been wiser to keep a lower profile this weekend. 55 minutes ago, Donk said: Maddison should realise that going to a casino on such circumstances can be spun negatively. SecretPro Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Not sure why anyone gives a ****? It's not like Gareth would have played him even if he was fit.
twister Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 If your well enougth to go to the casino days after leaving england, he should of stayed with the squard. This will go down like a lead ballon with everyone at the fa, and I imagine rodgers will be having a word as he wont want that seeping in around the foxes. He has a perception right or wrongly about him and he wont help himself with stories like this. The line between being a top draw footballer is thin, david bentley had a lot of talent and look what happened to him, retired at 29.

I’m afraid that unless you know what the illness is you can’t make that statement fwiw, considering how Sh1t England played, I suspect the fa media people are delighted that madders has taken some of the flak away from them !!

Maddison was only spotted there between 8 and 9pm. Hardly a Gazza-esque bender straight out of the 90s. You didn't see his dentist chair in Mosh at 2am

We will qualify, of course we will the whole process has been manipulated so it almost impossible for the bigger teams not to qualify. But then we get there, we will again be in an easy group, because they want the big nations in the knockouts, we will get to the quarters and play France/ Germany / Italy / Belgium / Holland / Spain or Portugal and just lose. Because we don't have what we as a country had in 1990, which is fight and passion, this current team would prolly have just gone off crying if they played that Cameroon team, that was a battle not a football match. Friday against CZ we had no fight in us at all.

Bert Posted 14 October 2019 Posted 14 October 2019 The FA sent him home. That’s the official line anyway so I don’t see why all the fuss? Before anyone gets on their high horse, I’m sure most of us have done things we shouldn’t have morally been doing when we’ve been off work ill. He was in his own time.
