Some bits are some aren't.  For sure though if you are earning millions and an England international you could have an incredible life.  Most of us can't afford to enjoy it.

It isn't hard or that expensive (if you live and work here) to enjoy the city.

One tends to only eat at Michelin starred restaurants twice a week and if you share a box at the theatre with some hoi polloi then it's doable.

Whilst you're spot on with your logic, I think you're falling into the trap of buying over priced prem players. The £40mill we'd spend on Tarkowski could see us buy Fofana and most of a RW.

£35m now

Tarkowski will slot straight into the team, Fofana could take some time, those potentially lost points could be worth a few more million at the end of the season.

Is it £35mill? There have been reports of wanting £40m/£50m again?

It's only the Daily Star, but they claimed today that Burnley lowered their demands to £35m.

Now we're on the eve of the season. Surely Burnley will play proper hardball. We'd have to pay north of 35 to win this now. Is he worth it? I never understand why clubs leave it do late. The selling club are limited in their recruitment alternatives so will likely fend offers off.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire if he goes to West Ham!..a backward step for his career.

We could well end up buying him for arond 30 mill mark but unlikely before the start. Would Dyche seriously let one of his best players go to a side they will be playing in two weeks time? Even if a deal was done they would stall until after the Burnley game or put some restriction clause in making  him ineligible for that game

Looks as if Fofana is the first choice and it seems to be progressing. Maybe if Tarkowski was available on the cheap(ish) we’d have had a serious go but at £35m+ no

Heavy rumour is Tarkowski doesn't want to move down to London. Done it before and found it hard on his family.

Tarkowski  is a good player... why would he want to go to a basketcase club like West Ham? Burnley will at least finish midtable this season;

In this case it seems like Chelsea want to sign Declan Rice, so Tarkowski is being signed to replace him. West Ham are probably trying to make a bit extra on the side like we did with Maguire, but it's not so easily done.

Rice doesn't play CB for West Ham though does he? West Ham could definitely do with a new CB to partner Diop.

Which kinda gives me hope that we can wade in at the last minute with a lowball offer and get him for £10m and a packet of quavers.

Yep that is true, which makes it a bit odd. They did sign that Czech player int he window last season that made a big difference to them though, so maybe they see CB as a bigger priority now?

Weird about Balbuena, great first season then completely turned to shit.

I agree, but the best answer I can suggest is '£80m up front'.

He may have no choice if they pay the money Burnley want and the personal terms are really good

he could commute from s northants/n beds/Cambridgeshire to Chadwell Heath

Hard to know whether we should go for Tarkowski or Fofana, there's merit in both.

Obviously Soyuncu is most likely to leave out of him and Evans, so a new young gun to come in would make sense and it first our recruitment model, but then, Evans is missing for 3 games, and his injury record (although decent at Leicester) is patchy, and he's getting older, so a 27/28 year old experienced head coming in also would be a logical move.

Perhaps go for Fofana now, and then look at experienced CB's next summer?

Tarkowski is immense, cracking player, certainly too good for West Ham.

would love us to sign him.

Our model of buying young with a big ceiling is great but it would also be nice to sign someone like him 27/28 on a 5 year deal. Massive experience and one of the top English CB’s in the league.
I reckon he would get England recognition playing for us as well.

I know we’ve been burned buying players supposedly in their peak before but I rate him really highly and think £35M would be money worth spending, not sure if we can afford it mind as we need a couple more at the other end of the pitch.

If Tarkowski goes to West Ham it will tell us a lot about our plans. I believe Fofana is our main target and we are very reluctant to turn to other targets. If we are that far apart on getting Fofana then we'd not risk losing out on a player we have wanted for a few seasons now in Tarkowski. Fofana is pretty much done.

For a player with aspirations of Champions league football he stands a better chance of bagging it with Burnley than West Ham lol absolute shambles of a club

I’m sure if we don’t get him for £35m Everton will sign him for £50m, he’s still better off with us if he wants European football and England recognition.

Everton big spending is complete according to the Althetic
