I’m not trying to be pedantic, but a ‘spot-kick’ usually means a penalty. Which we’ve scored a fair few of.

Count me in for some pedantry. I've never, ever seen spot kick refer to anything other than a penalty. It's a kick taken from the penalty spot

Don't get me started.

I can cite a bunch of English Language Dictionaries or I can simply rephrase and use “set pieces” instead, so I opt to rephrase. lol

You don’t have to “try” when you are being literally pedantic... lol

Nonetheless, for the record, ‘spot kicks’ are not confined to PKs

It simply refers to free-kicks awarded from the spot of infringement, and (other than PKs) we haven’t scored from those or corner kicks all season.

Spot on!

My old Sunday league team managed to play every week, all that was needed was a tub of Tiger Balm and Vaseline, all of this modern day chirochamber bollocks is all kack.... get a tinny down their neck before the game and crack on. Christ I miss the 90’s.

I'm not sure this is the most professional approach but we are fairly desperate so it's worth a try  😉

Means absolutely nothing.  That is history.  Strong Team required as we need to win this game.

Joking aside, I hope we take it more seriously than Zorya and put out a strong(er) side. We need to win the group.

More game time for Wilf, Ricardo, Cags and Timmy Chestnuts if possible.

Win it.

Not sure you can say put out a strong side then then say bring 4 people back from long term injury all at the same time.

Exactly as it’s taken from the spot. Corners are taken from a slice shaped area near the corner flag which is apt for the deliveries we attempt. So for clarity moving forward we have a spot kick ( penalty ) or a slice ( corner )

Given the vardy goal celebration and our skillz at corners.. they should be known as corner pieces

I’d have thought “set piece” would be a better term.

Edit: Oops, a bit late

..not sure about that!!!

 It sound's logical but..

Spot kicks have always been referred as a penalty, any restarts taken on the field are free kicks whether direct or indirect.

Infringement in the 18 yard area are either direct or indirect. Fouls considered to warranty a "penalty kick", or "spot kick" if you like, are deemed to be direct, any other Infringement (within the area) would be deemed indirect and would result in an "indirect free kick".

Although all Infringements are the referees prerogative to penalise a misdemeanor, no on -field fouls outside the box are referred to as spot kicks.

Looking for Perez to kick on and play himself into some form in this one. Maybe as a central striker or false 9 with Under and Barnes either side.

I'd like to see Praet start so he can hopefully get a bit of form back too. Hopefully Rodgers will give Ndidi another 70 minutes as well.

Never harmed MON boys, definitely a few in that side who has a cheeky beer before the game.

Only youth players from previously named Europa League match day squads that may be involved on Thursday are:

Sidnei Tavares

Tyrese Shade

The others; Stolarczyk, Nelson, Leshabela, Flynn, and Wright are all starting for the u21s tonight, with Fitzhugh on the bench

I know he's not in the squad but ....

Can I be the first to say we should play Gray on this week's thread or has somebody already beaten me to it?

Staying strong but resting Fuchs/Evans has got to be a priority

Even JJ could probably do with a breather!

I'd personally go

                         Kasps

               Fofana Ndidi U21CB

    Ricky                                 Thomas

                       Mendy

        Maddison  Youri  Barnes

                       Vardy

With the idea of bringing Youri/Vardy off ASAP once it's comfortable

Strong team but equally rotation is needed. Would like to see ndidi strong 60/70. Then Perez in more advanced central role providing nacho support and 2 wide man providing the width and pace.

                    DW/KS

justin  Fofana Evans  Thomas

                  Ndidi

Under   Praet  Perez Barnes

               Iheanacho

We need top spot . Looking at some of the group winners, we will have a tough game for sure if we finish 2nd.

Kasper/Ward

Albrighton Fofana Evans Justin

          Praet  Ndidi Tielemens

                 Maddison

               Perez Vardy
