The question I was answering was can poch just resign and join Spurs. A company the size of Spurs or PSG will probably have lawyers anyway so the point was if that was a possibility I’m sure all parties will be well advised on the legal issues. The only way it could likely work though is to just agree compensation. 1

Deeg67 Posted 1 June 2021 Posted 1 June 2021 Very interesting piece from 538 on what Tuchel did this season and why, and how Chelsea could be really scary next season. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/was-chelseas-champions-league-win-a-fluke/

Nalis Posted 2 June 2021 Posted 2 June 2021 To be fair to Everton fans, a lot of the things I've seen online have been tongue in cheek and pretty funny.

But when properly deployed, he's the best midfielder in the sport. The point is, Tuchel is a seriously smart manager. Chelsea will score more next season - book it. They're loaded with attacking talent and Tuchel will revert to more of his earlier style. They should seriously challenge Man City next season and I'd even make them the favorites pending MC's acquisitions - but those are sure to be platinum quality. 1
jmono84 Posted 2 June 2021 Posted 2 June 2021 Yea Kante was in his element playing in that deep role where he can’t tackle/intercept and break. It was a beast performance from him in the final. I don’t rate how Chelsea play but when you have someone as good as Kante you’ll break frequently and create chances.
ARTY_FOX Posted 2 June 2021 Posted 2 June 2021 It's Chelsea. He'll probably accidentally insult Rudigers god and the players will turn.

The same Chelsea that lost 3 of their last 5 games?

Yeah and he's not going to be fit all season. For all the talk of how strong they are, they finished with 1 more point than the previous season despite spending 250m. They know how to frustrate city and they beat us marginally when we're nursing injuries and had been out partying. Don't buy the tuchel love in. Chelsea don't stick with managers for long and he doesn't stick around at clubs for long.

They won the two most important ones games they played in the last month. Did you actually read the 538 piece? The numbers they put up under Tuchel were pretty impressive. And guaranteed he's going to be more attacking next season. Edited 2 June 2021 by Deeg67

Haven't yet but Tuchel's 'masterstroke' was basing his team around kante and in a team that's based on pressing that's hardly rocket science?
Tuna Posted 2 June 2021 Posted 2 June 2021 Ancelotti turned out to be a completely pointless appointment for Everton, uncommitted and clearly uninterested in building for the long term, jumping ship at the first opportunity whilst making no progress on the pitch and playing tedious football. 2

Impressive contribution from Carlo, highly commendable 👏

NasPb Posted 2 June 2021 Posted 2 June 2021 We all know how good Kante is but tuchel doesn't convince me. He struggles against smaller teams. Great in a knock out tournament though against the big sides.

On that basis of that article we'd better watch out for Brighton next year! A lot will depend on whether they buy a decent striker IMO. but it's also worth bearing in mind werner gets in great positions and misses them, which will stat pad them.

This could end up being a blessing in disguise for them. The next manager they appoint probably won't demand even half the wage that Ancellotti was on and they really don't have to be anything special to get that team to finish in the top half.
