For me, the new manager has to bring exciting football. We have, for the most part, had that with Rodgers. Granted there have been more than a fair share of utterly dire games under Brendan but I just can't go back to a Puel like manager. I think we are in a great position where we can afford to give a manager like Potter a go or maybe go for it and push the boat out for someone like Rangnick.

Rangnick is Head of Sports and Development at Lokomotiv Moscow, he isn't going to want to step back into management!

Most of the suggestions I've seen are appalling. Potter? Nuno? Lampard? Get out. I'd be mortified if we replaced Rodgers with one of those. I think a good portion of our fan base underestimate how good Rodgers actually is unfortunately, and I feel its imperative that the manager that proceeds him is on his level at the very least, otherwise we're moving backwards. The likes of Ten Hag and Mancini meet this criteria, so it's got to be someone of that ilk.

Ten Hag is destined for big things.

Mancini is not leaving Italy ahead of a World Cup

How many point do you get for that?

One might reasonably postulate that all a manager can do is put the players in positions to score, and at that point they have to finish the job.  You can agree or disagree but I don’t think it should be dismissed in some sort of Luddite closure of the mind.

I find this £3 million release clause very dubious. Rodgers is pretty much a prized asset, on a hefty long term contract and we'll let him go for relative peanuts (and to a team we'd consider a rival at the moment on the pitch)?

£3m, Where's that been quoted?

Nah, he will already be gone, along, with Wes and Wilf, following Rodgers to Man Utd apparently.

£250 million for the lot seems about fair to me, no need to take the piss.

Sounds complete BS to me . We paid Celtic £8 mill for his contract and bought out all the others in his entourage . Why would we agree to a 3 mill fee and how would the inclusion of such a low buy out benefit BR ?

I can see it being jardím 100%

.. he is that guy with all the hate for Tielemans..!!!

Threatened not to come back if Tielemans was still at the club.

Went from Monaco to Saudi Arabia to Al Hilal, just for his treatment of Youri, I for one, would not have him anywhere near the club.

For anyone hoping against hope that Youri stays, if Jardim turns up Youri will not be here.

Fair enough. I wouldn't want him here but just like others say with nuno it'd make sense for our model i suppose or whatever. We can do better though favre imo

Even assuming we'd want Favre (and I think his resume suggests a pretty good rather than outstanding manager) do we even know if he wants to manage again?  He's in his mid-60s.

If an article has quoted that then it’s straightforward making it up …….. if all the reports are based on that one then most of this thread is a waste of everyone’s time

Percy reported at the time he signed his new deal that it was around £20m

He seemed to be tempted by the Palace job in the summer, seemed almost a done deal but then he pulled out.

I think my main takeaway from this thread is that we are all pretty much certain that BR is either off shortly or in the summer - hence the need for a new leader. Add in the fact that we will also lose Tieleman’s in the summer and it’s transition time again. Disappointing really, but I guess that’s life.

If he hadn’t just gone to Leipzig, I would have said we should be looking at Jesse Marsch.

We could however take a brief look at his successor at Salzburg though, Matthias Jaissle, he is inexperienced but is doing very well. Must have something about him, plus I’d rather see us take a punt on someone.

That's the guy I was hoping would get the USMNT gig.  Would've loved to see the golden generation paired with a tactical whiz like Marsch.

Transition or rebuild?

By my own admission I’m being pedantic here but I think you mean more of a rebuild.

Transition to me suggests we’re going to change, we’ve transitioned, transitioning or (still) trying to transition for the last 4(? Maybe more) years personally I’d like nothing more than moving away from this transition period of which we’re going round in circles (or sideways, backwards to be more precise) we’re going through but unfortunately I don’t see it, I expect it to just be a continuation of it.

So, transitioning then 🤣
