Mimi Parker, drummer and vocalist in Low. One of my favourite live bands. Dammit. RIP

Shocker.  I didn't know she was ill

Went to see them at Queens Social Club in Sheffield about 8 years ago.  One of the best gigs I've ever been to.

I feel like I should have gone to see them more.  It was like they were always on tour

I find the notion of forecasting and wagering people's mortality pretty distasteful, but also rather farcical since frequently those with terminal illnesses have often been chosen which doesn't require even the remotest of predictive prowess - which is ultimately what this thread seems to be celebrating (or at least the rational behind it). It does also however serve as a means for memorial, tribute and even grief for some.

On a related note, saddening to see that Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor is likely not long for this world. He was unable to attend the recent Hall of Fame induction of the original line up and a visibly distressed and saddened Simon Le Bon said as much before reading out a letter from his ex band mate. It seems that he now is very ill from what would appear to be a very aggressive form of advance prostate cancer which at stage 4 has metastasised. This is a stealth killer and when it escapes can be a death sentence. It seems to be a similar scenario to Frank Zappa and Johnny Ramone - a very high grade which was discovered too late.

There is no national screening programme, but when caught early and contained, is not only eminently treatable, but curable - particularly since it tends to be slow growing. PSA testing, though not a biomarker can be a vital indicator - in particular the velocity of any increase. Know and understand the symptoms gents and don't be too proud or even shy to visit a doctor if you notice something untoward. The late Bill Turnbull and Ray Clemence did some extraordinary work in raising awareness through prostate cancer UK.

Keith Levene: The Clash guitarist and founding member dies aged 65

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-63611757

:(

Instant Hit by the Slits is about him. I don't think he's actually on any Clash recordings, but persuaded Strummer to leave the 101ers to join. Intrinsic to defining the classic early PIL sound - I'll be interested to hear what Lydon has to say in tribute. I knew he had liver cancer so I'm guessing that was the cause of death. John wrote 'Death Disco' about his Mother succumbing to the disease.

Wilko Johnson.

Loved this guy. Great guitarist, performer on stage and great character.

Really, really sad.

Obit

Love Dr Feelgood. Great guitarist ahead of his time and so good that he influenced Punk.

"Down at The Doctors", "Milk and Alcohol", standouts in terms of popular acceptance but there's so much more.
