Great to hear he's almost back playing.

 

If November and December go well for him and he's able to get up to speed, there's no reason why he can't be one of the options we use to cover for Wilf in January...

Fatawu, all depends on how much attention is paid to him. I'd imagine its too soon for Ghana to think about throwing him into a tournament

Confirmed he's with the first team. Fantastic news for him to be promoted to that level, and not just stuck with the academy as part of his recovery. 

 

It's also great to hear how much faith Maresca is willing to put into the academy, knowing the investment into it will reap rewards.

Exciting news to hear that both Braybrooke and Alves are close to returns. 

Really hoping that they can both break into the starting 11 this season even if it's only getting some minutes from the bench.

It’s a great season to really integrate him tbh. 
 

If he’s as good as we hope - it’s perfect for him to be getting minutes in a team running away with promotion. And with 5 subs there is plenty of opportunity. 
 

He also plays in a position where we could do with another option.

Said it before and I’ll say it again. I absolutely hate that saying, getting minutes, giving them minutes, minutes off the bench. It was that jerk Jose who started it I’m sure. And the absolute worst thing about it, it makes sense. Why?  It’s SO annoying.

I think Brendan Rodgers has only ever wanted to be Brendan Rodgers, Elite Coach.

Agree. It is exciting but reading this thread I sense there is far too much expectation being heaped on them. ACL injuries are as serious as it gets for any athlete. It's a nice little morale booster for them to be training with the senior squad but it would be unfair and unrealistic to expect them to contribute much this season.

Why don’t more managers get it? Ferguson proved way back in the 90s that you can successfully integrate ‘kids’. How old was Giggs when he was thrown in? If memory serves right he may have been 17 and he did a job straight away - as we’ve seen some of our academy lads do already. I expect Alves will be no different and, quite possibly - if he can make a full recovery from an awful injury - the pick of the bunch.

Agree. Just a great shame he is a grade A Merchant Banker. But a very rich one.
