James_lcfc Posted 11 August 2023 Posted 11 August 2023 Nobody is going to pay us money for Wout Faes are they. Won’t happen.  Just hoping he’s found his level and will do OK in the Championship as he’s going to be around for a while. He was probably the best of the three against Cov so here’s hoping!

Faes didn't want to play in the Championship. Faaes didn;'t want to play in the championship - well he shouldn't have been so shite in the Premeir League then should he - some truly horrendous performances from him last season 1
Claudio Fannieri Posted 11 August 2023 Posted 11 August 2023 We may favour a loan as he is only a year into a lengthy contract so from an FFP perspective he will still be showing at about £12m, which we are highly unlikely to recoup. A loan fee of £3m with them covering his wages with an option/obligation to buy at £12m next season wouldn’t be a bad deal.  If we can negotiate something similar for Souttar, I would then look to try and do a loan deal for Harwood-Bellis or put in a bid for Ronnie Edwards from PeterboroughÂ
Bptiger Posted 11 August 2023 Posted 11 August 2023 I think he has played well the two games I watched , he has played better than Doyle and vesty 1
LCFCJohn Posted 11 August 2023 Posted 11 August 2023 I’ve been of the view of not rating him and favouring him moving during the close season. However, he did look good against Coventry and that was taking into account that along with Doyle, they were having to cover Vestergaard so doing more than their share of the defending.  If we are getting rid of Souttar, I’d now favour keeping Faes if he wants to be here, bring one more in (Edwards from Posh, it’s so obvious!).  Probably would need replacing as first choice if we go up. But even then, good enough for the squad at that level.
majaco Posted 11 August 2023 Posted 11 August 2023 Faes being better at reading the flight of the ball is one of the marginals that could have kept us up 1
Shane Posted 11 August 2023 Posted 11 August 2023 It looked like he downed tools in the second half of last season. Probably got corrupted by the poor mentality of the 3 other Belgians. 4

I think he’s a decent player, if he can concentrate for a full 90 minutes he’ll be great Think you have answered your own question. Can be excellent but then has a complete brain fart and costs a goal . Should get away with them in the championship and hopefully learn to concentrate
Pliskin Posted 11 August 2023 Posted 11 August 2023 No more first team players who have been playing will go. Unless it’s a fee we can’t refuse. We can’t diminish the squad to the point of not being able to replace players. Squad depth is what will see us through this season.Â

If we let Faes go now, who is clearly favoured, we've got to replace him.  Only way he goes imo is if we literally can't sell or loan a single other soul and we get a chance to sign someone we're desperate for.Â
RowlattsFox Posted 11 August 2023 Posted 11 August 2023 This is what I'm worried about, we start the season with players involved and then end up receiving bids late in the window. Hopefully a good start will convince him to give it a season.
Criggers Posted 11 August 2023 Posted 11 August 2023 Should keep, he proved against Liverpool that given the chance he’s currently the best finisher we’ve got after Iheanacho. Just needs a good run in the side. 4
Langston Posted 11 August 2023 Posted 11 August 2023 If we can get Ronnie Edwards in + one other to replace Souttar I can't say I'd be too sad. 2
Will1981 Posted 11 August 2023 Posted 11 August 2023 Far too rash and far too slow, dives in too much then does not have the pace to get back in position. 1

Popular Post Stadt Posted 11 August 2023 Popular Post Posted 11 August 2023 (edited) Our defensive issues (so far) stem from a lack of familiarity with our defensive transitions. Selling our most mobile CB who's looked commanding so far only to scramble to get another 2 CBs in would be incredibly short sighted. Any replacement is going to be take too long to get up to speed. Â We still have Vestergaard starting, Maresca doesn't rate Souttar and Doyle is only on loan, too many on here are treating any potential transfer like it's career mode. Â As for last season, he made mistakes but we played a high-ish line with Sumo-re and Tubbymans in midfield - he's bit rash but that set up was perfect storm for exposing him. Simms scored 7 in 12 nineties last season in the Championship, he couldn't much out of Faes at all. Edited 11 August 2023 by Stadt 5 1
