Muzzy_no7 Posted 23 April 2024 Posted 23 April 2024 Fair play, I’ll praise him for the first time since Jan. Done well tonight. 2
SafewayFox Posted 23 April 2024 Posted 23 April 2024 35% possession yet had 4 “clear cut chances”. Scoring 5 from 6 on target too. Those numbers are almost the opposite our passive/limp recent away performances. 2
NasPb Posted 23 April 2024 Posted 23 April 2024 If he could just be more pragmatic in the premier league... I'd keep him around
LVFox Posted 23 April 2024 Posted 23 April 2024 So much better when we play with intensity. It allows us to tear teams apart in the shapes Enzos tactics creates for us. Gives great hope for next season if Enzo stays. 1
dmayne7 Posted 23 April 2024 Posted 23 April 2024 Jesus, look what happens when you actually press the ball and when you realise that possession isn't the be all and end all 1
shailen Posted 23 April 2024 Posted 23 April 2024 We had less possession. Enzo has lost his identity!! 1

On the actual topic, Soton played to every one of the strengths the team has by looking to come forward rather than parking the bus and you'd think Enzo set them up knowing that, with this result. 1

Even the most Enzo loving fans would acknowledge he was more flexible with his obsession with possession etc tonight….something that has probably caused a few fans to question him during our recent very poor run. 2

MPH Posted 23 April 2024 Posted 23 April 2024 the way we counter attacked against a team that had to come to us…. I hope that gives Maresca food for thought for next season…
foxfanazer Posted 23 April 2024 Posted 23 April 2024 Say what you want about him, he's a thousand times the manager Russel Martin is. Loved his passion tonight as well
Lcfc-1992 Posted 23 April 2024 Posted 23 April 2024 Promising signs that he’s willing to change it up. Going long from goal kicks and more direct. 2 or 3 passes and we were at their defence, more of the same
Corky Posted 23 April 2024 Posted 23 April 2024 Questions remain about his philosophy but so refreshing to have a human with emotions leading the team instead of a bloke phoning it in for his cash and reputation protecting.
Stevosevic Posted 23 April 2024 Posted 23 April 2024 I think tonight was more of a sign of what we could see in the PL in terms of approach to the game. If we go up…
kingfox Posted 23 April 2024 Posted 23 April 2024 Can’t remember who said it on here last week, but a poster stated that the football could be better under Enzo in games where we don’t dominate possession. On the evidence of tonight, that statement looks correct. Time for Enzo to turn us into a counter attacking team
Gamble92 Posted 23 April 2024 Posted 23 April 2024 Very pleased for Enzo. The criticism of him has been fully deserved and I've given him a lot recently. The away defeats were beyond infuriating. But I've always wanted him to do well and that's what was so annoying about it all. It's not some Gary Megson type that we know is doomed. He has all the potential to be great for us. He's just been so ****ing stubborn. Lets hope this is the turning point. 3

Moving the ball quicker and more dynamic, we can tear teams apart.. generally it's too slow and passive, especially in a league where we are the favourites and teams sit back. Hopefully in the PL teams will come and have a go at us and then it gives us chance to play like tonight.. frankly I'm just enjoying the present though, next year is going to be a struggle with the punishments coming our way 1

Not sure, he said post match he thinks we should have played more (which basically means pass around slowly) and we've had better performances. I think he looks at the posession stats before anything else. 1
Popular Post Matt Posted 23 April 2024 Popular Post Posted 23 April 2024 I’m not gonna let the comments get to me because tonight was so throughly enjoyable but come on Enzo. “I don’t think it was our best performance of the season.” ”On the ball we could play more better because there was space to play and we could keep the ball more.” ”I think we had more games where the team was better on the ball.” Maresca on Fatawu: “The next two games he’ll be on the bench else he’ll be shooting from everywhere.” I get that last one is very much tongue in cheek but even so. Come on Enzo, even you have to admit it was pretty impressive and enjoyable tonight. 34% Possession. 17 Shots to their 7. 6 Shots on Target to their 0! 362 passes to their 719. 5 Goals to their 0. What’s not to like?! It’s what you do with the ball, and tonight, we did a lot! 7
