Of course it also helped we had Knocky, Mahrez and a forward partnership so in sync in Nugent and Vardy. 😁 We did also have an end of season like this under Pearson the season before we went up. Not quite as a grand scale. Being able to sign the gem that was mahrez certainly helped that year. Think we did need a spark in January this year. Something different.

Gazza M Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 I think Enzo will have pre picked the side before last night. So if no injuries he will just go with it.
Chelmofox Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 We have to go strongest which means starting Daka as well. Vardy works much better coming on as an impact sub. My only reservation is Ndidi right now. Either isn't fit or doesn't want to get hurt. Pulled out of loads of 50/50s yesterday. Might be worth starting Praet, but writing that, you know he will do very little.
Ricey Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 We have to learn from last night, as Friday will be a similar match against a team fighting for their lives. Hermansen Justin Vestergaard Coady Ricardo Winks Dewsbury-Hall Praet Mavididi Fatawu Iheanacho I can't believe we've got to the stage where Iheanacho is the answer, but I think against a parked bus at least he brings physicality. Daka is in horrendous form and Vardy can't start two matches in a few days. Praet should offer more in tight spaces compared to Ndidi and Justin should help guard against getting hit on the counter. Coady for Faes is simply a no-brainer. I'd love to see us go at them early, but it's never going to happen. If we do and we go ahead, Enzo will bring out the calm down gestures and all of our momentum will disappear.

Permafrost Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 Is Cannon injured again? In the Brum pre-match conference, Enzo said he was fit, but he hasn't featured in either game.
Popular Post Ric Flair Posted 10 April 2024 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2024 We have come full circle and I can see him starting Iheanacho soon. Where on earth is Tom Cannon? It's futile expecting huge personnel changes or dare I say tactics but I'm getting myself angrier and angrier stewing over his declaration that we've been working on different approaches in different scenarios that we might need. I'm not sure what will constitute these to be deployed based on the way the last 4 games have played out and zero evidence of any change to how we always play and operate. I know a lot of managers have a fixed ideology, to expect them to flip flop tactically is unreasonable as you risk not mastering any way of playing or build the said identity. But there has to come a point where you're open to your tactics being countered and something new implemented. If superior tacticians like Enzo may well class himself, were never nullified then why do said managers change the way they play over time? Enzo may well do eventually but there's been zero evidence of that which is actually unheard of. There's been countless managers we've labelled arrogant and stubborn grace our football club but I don't recall any being this rigid so early on and immovable. Rodgers was a ballerina in comparison to what we're seeing here. I cannot comprehend the thought process behind KDH and Ndidi roles last night nor how a supposed dynamic coach could watch that display where our entire strategy revolved around 1 winger in Mavididi being expected to take on a full back who had his number all game and they then doubled up on him for good measure. We had no 8's advancing past him on a regular basis to provide a different threat and unfortunately Yunus isn't the type of 1 v 1 winger to provide another weapon that made their jobs harder to keep us at bay. Would it not be on such an occasion that the full backs (by now we had Justin and Ricardo playing) support Mavididi and Fatawu? I get why we wouldn't do it routinely with a slow central defence but we were chasing the game and their strengths were retaining a compact low block, draw them out and it may have fallen apart. I'm so angry. This team is difficult to like, as is the manager. I'm pretty clear in my mind he is not the long term answer here if we go up and 100% unsuited for the difficult period we face if we don't go up. Not going up is a real possibility now, we've got no mental resolve and are relying on Leeds being as weak as us. They're trying their best to be fair. No point even suggesting a team, the arrogance of our manager to consider we have to adapt is beyond him. 14

filbertway Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 I reckon 1-1 or 2-1 either way. It shouldn't be a coin flip but the way we play - even if we start the game on fire, we almost always give the opposition ample opportunity to get back into the game. Clearly, man for man we're better than them - it just depends whether the quality can overcome the hurdle of Enzo's turgid tactics.
lcfcell Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 We must obey the idea. We must worship the idea. Never question the idea.
NewquayFox Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 Normally I would have been down the Barbican for a good few ales pre kick off and a few more after as it’s only an hours drive for us, can’t be arsed anymore, was coming up for the the Blackburn game but not bothering now, hope we go up in 1st or 2nd as we will bottle the play offs, but we will be back down again when they stitch us up with transfer sanctions, points deductions and the poor way our club is being run… Up the City…
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 10 April 2024 Posted 10 April 2024 Mads Justin Coady Vestergaard Doyle Ricardo Winks Fatawu KDH Mavididi Daka 4-2-3-1 Will never happen in a million years but this is our best 11 imo. System would allow fullbacks to push on and open the pitch a bit more. We’re so easy to play against. Ndidi, Praet, Akgun, Vardy from the bench. Faes is a bombscare. Daka isn’t a great finisher but imo we play better with him in the side.

He can occasionally have a deft touch but hardly influences a game, doesn't bust a gut and doesn't get stuck in. Neither use nor ornament really. I'd sooner have Albrighton in there somewhere, at least he'll put a shift in for the cause. I'm sure in the eyes of someone like Enzo, Praet must look technically gifted in training but, in a real match he's just a big girls blouse! 1

I'd do similar but have Ricardo and Justin as fullbacks then stick Hamza in cm just to play the holding midfielder role and just let him sit there. Winks can then just push on a bit more to support KDH. Iheanacho or Cannon up top for me. 1
