Was only 45 minutes but was way off it, struggled to get into the game, doesn’t seem to have a stand out attribute, spent more time trying to win fouls and having a spat with Mepham. Only thing he was going to do last night was get sent off. Didn’t offer much to suggest he should be starting.

Early days and that second half was pretty poor for everyone. As I mentioned in the post-match thread, I think that link between defence and attack was removed when James went off and so when Carranza came on he was just starved of the ball. And then when he did finally get his chance he skied it.

We rely too much on Fatawu as our creative outlet for me. While he's a wonderful player, West Brom did a great job of doubling up on Fatawu and Mavididi. Fatawu did break through on occasion and between them both they produced a few really dangerous balls in the box but I don't think there were enough for Carranza to really attack in the second half.

When Ramsey is back - and Cifuentes isn't hooking James at half-time for some reason - maybe we'll be a bit more dangerous through the middle as well, which may hopefully give defenders more to think about and also let the wide players have a bit more freedom and just the one defender to run at.

It is too easy to stop our creativity by doubling up when we have no real threat through the middle.

First impressions and all that, but I wasn't impressed.  Appeared weak to the physical challenges of the Championship.  His spat with Meapham and that awful ref,

I thought he was going to get sent off.

Willing to give him the benefit of the doubt though.

Way too soon to judge for me on whether he will be hit or miss, performance was average but he got stuck in and positioning was decent. i'm guessing Marti will be having words about diving in the box. As in either dont be so weak or be a better actor. :D

He did not look very impressive only had part of a game.but from that performance not looking very good let’s hope he improves a lot very quickly

Yes he wasn't great last night, but...

He arrived at the very end of the window.  New club, new language, no pre-season.

No one knows how fit he was or,  more to the point, how unfit.

I said in the other thread that he looked like he was blowing after 10-15 mins on the pitch and that might be why Cifuentes has been starting Ayew and only giving Carranza sub minutes.

I wouldn't rush to write Carranza off before he's been given a go at full fitness, having been given time to bed in.

He comes into his own in the penalty area. We don’t get enough balls into the penalty that he can deal with. All of our crosses yesterday were shit, either floated in to the back posts or intercepted.

I think he will finish most of those 50/50’s in the area, we’ve just got to get the ball to him.

And, we’ve got to stop playing Ayew, our attack will instantly become more dangerous.

love how reactive some of fans are,

the guy got hardly any sort of service last night and you are already calling him crap

pretty sure alot of the ones calling Carranza crap were the same with Vardy too during his first few games for us.

* i am by no means saying Carranza will be as good as JV, cos he wont, but judging so early on when hes not even started a match;

but what can I say, some of our fans think we should steam roll the league too,

I'm not sure he's up to it but we've got to  at least give him a chance. Nothing ever comes through centrally and our wingers always cut inside I get a feeling he needs balls whipped into him from the byline but that's never going to happen with the wingers we've got. Monga is probably the only one who doesn't cut inside every time..

Too soon to say anything one way or the other about Caranza. He could come good or at least decent. He might just be shit. Wouldn’t want to condemn him so quickly, although I know it’s the FT way.

Our issue last night wasn’t Carranza , it was the lack of pressing, the sheer number of passing for the sake of it (back again), the lack of chances near to the goal. Carranza did look frustrated.

So pinning our hopes on a new striker who isn’t getting service in a system that won’t create them will make most strikers look average.

Well know more how good he is in if Marti can get us playing in a way that we creating good attacking opportunities. It’s all a bit stale up top at the minute barring Abdul’s magic.
