Look we’d all rather he find a little bit of decency in his otherwise miserable character to sell us and leave now. Nobody would actively ‘want’ administration and the effects that come with it including people’s jobs and the indignity and reputational damage it comes with. Those like Spanner73, well they can confirm if that is the case, but I believe they would also feel as I have said above. But, there is the feeling now that it is inevitable and that administration and being taken over as at least a going concern, is the best case scenario and going out of business altogether the worst. We are not functioning as a business, we are essentially insolvent in terms of money coming and out. So all those people are saying is, if it is inevitable, just end the pain so we can move forwards. I said this to someone yesterday but don’t mistake someone wanting to get it out the way and move forward to a brighter future as just wanting the club to tank. 4 2

Southampton were known for recruiting excellent players Mane, Tadic, Pelle then get glover and quality of player drastically reduced. So we bring him in, and no surprises our recruitment dreadful since. Aribo, huge wages and we take him from Southampton. Martin has no interest in results, style of play more important. Bombarded out of rangers and for some reason we want him. staggering! 0/4 so far from Southampton and we continue on the same path. no surprises 3 relegations in 4 seasons with those at the top 5
Claudio Fannieri Posted 7 June Posted 7 June Not a fan of this appointment as I really wanted us to move in a different direction, move away from this style of play and bring in some fresh ideas. Martin is very much more of the same. I think it just goes to prove that despite back to back relegations and 3 in the last 4, plus the hiring of McCarron, it’s still very much Aiyawatt and Rudkin calling the shots and their obsession with this slow, turgid style is not dwindling. 1 3

His teams are some of the worst I’ve ever seen, turgid, sideways, boring and pointless football. He leaves teams worse than how he found them. What is the point, honestly. I’ve missed watching one game in about a decade (for my wedding) when it was possible for me to watch. This actively makes me not want to see us play. 3
Spanner73 Posted 7 June Posted 7 June Probably picked him because he can do the 3 fist pumps to the fans “yeah yeah yeah” when they win like they all do now Its how naive they are

This is the last roll of the dice, when it fails we will finally be free but the cost has been heavy. As a club we just need to get it out the way with. 1
MGLCFC Posted 7 June Posted 7 June (edited) Top and Rudderless seem hell bent on alienating the fanbase. I can't think how either of them see this as an appointment that will bring the club and fans closer together. They are either thick or deliberately on the wind up. Edited 7 June by MGLCFC 3
Popular Post Ricey Posted 7 June Popular Post Posted 7 June This idea that we should “get him out of the way” as he is inevitable at some point is slightly flawed due to the fact we have an absolutely critical squad and culture rebuild happening this summer, and we are going to let Russell Martin take it on. When it fails, and it will, we are left with the same problems we’ve had for years - incompatible ‘technical’ players that don’t really want to be here. No leaders, no fighters and a disjointed squad. Rinse and repeat. It will do damage that lasts years. I was desperate for something to get behind next season. Some semblance of a fresh start and new direction. I just hope the fact Percy says he hasn’t accepted it yet is because this is leak is designed to test the water. It’s happened before. 14
Percy Thrower Posted 7 June Posted 7 June Honestly feel like self-sabotage at this point. Some kind of big crypto bet Top has with BC Game? It's unfathomable.
Donwebbio Posted 7 June Posted 7 June Absolute shambles. This guy's 'philosophy', which he will change for nobody in any situation, is a weak imitation of a style introduced by Pep and other Spanish tactician. That philosophy has been moved on from because it is not pleasant on the eye and reduces fiitball to a game of dot-to-dot. Even if it was still en vogue, you need the players to execute. It's such an unimaginative appointment that will drive a wider divide between the club and fans but maybe that's the plan here.
Winstonthedog Posted 7 June Posted 7 June We are at the stage ... its no longer about who we want as a manager...... its now who in their right mind would want to be our manager 1

County Fox Posted 7 June Posted 7 June I have nothing against RM personally and he deffo isnt someone I would of appointed, as I feel he is fighting a very difficult battle to win over the fans. What bothers me more is the style of play often being boring to watch. Especially if the opposition doesn’t press us, which is what happened a lot with Enzo. Where teams figured out if they pressed us high up the pitch then we would just pass it through them (granted it looked good when that happened) but teams would often sit back and let the match turn into something so boring to watch- plus they then knew the fans would start to get on the players backs (which they often did, to Enzos annoyance).
County Fox Posted 7 June Posted 7 June I thought the guys.at BTG raised some really good points last night, when they spoke about RM. It’s definitely worth a listen

brookfox Posted 7 June Posted 7 June It was persisting with the same style with Southampton in the Prem when it was killing them every week that did me. Somewhere between arrogance and plain tactical naivety, but this bloke wore it as a badge of honour. Meanwhile Top and Rudkin saw it and thought… 1 1
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 7 June Posted 7 June Crazy that the people this will piss of the most are probably those that are still most loyal to King Power. The groans and tutting from the West Stand when Skipp plays it back to Jakub for the tenth time in the match 1

C'mon, surely someone abroad might not have heard about him, or is OK with his crap style of football! Nobody here seems to have picked up on my post quoting Talksport. "Martin has others options, both in the UK and abroad". His appointment at the KP is not a given thing. Percy has only said he is in talks with us. Edited 7 June by bald reynard 1

teblin Posted 7 June Posted 7 June Only thing if the news about trying to get gill too they are trying to put an actual team in place. They haven’t really done that since Enzo(maybe cooper actually). Might be the wrong team but hey. One thing though, as much as I don’t want him, I will not get on his back straight the way. Trouble is if we don’t have a flying start it will be even more toxic. this has been inevitable since we 1st got linked 4/5 years ago I think. @ClaphamFox I am still hoping you are right!! 1

Doubt they are serious about anyone else, with only Rowett being left on hold. 1
