Charlie Meffin says Top is rumoured to want £140m, so really how much are we worth?

£140 million is actually quite reasonable considering our assets and fan base, as well as recent(ish) success.

That is why I suspect Top is stupidly asking for even more than that and scaring away potential buyers.

Not sure Charlie Meffin has that much inside info to be honest, but it does generate views and attention for him to pretend he does.

Sounds like him asking for 140 million is infact scaring away potential buyers, based on pretty much all of the noise

But what is he selling for 140m?

As i understand it the club owns Belvoir Drive and the contracted players.

KP own Seagrave and the Stadium.

Came to make that exact point,  hearing they want 140m  but that's NOT including KP and Seagrave!

If thats the case the clubs worth nothing.

You would be mad to pay 10m and all the debt with no ground.

140m with the ground and seagrave is is really pushing it with 80m debt.

So i'll go back to my original thoughts when this first came up. We aint really for sale but saying we are will take the heat off of Top n Rudkin.

There's no way we're worth 140m - everything is leveraged and the squad has no value. There's no parachute payments - we've already leveraged that and spent it, there's no transfer payments, we've leveraged them all.

The only thing of value is the stadium and the training ground.

That's it.

...and our future potential, which has already been demonstrated to be possible during our recent successes.

Potential is usually why people buy a club.

We can all guess a valuation, but Charlie Methven’s experience and knowledge is worth listening to. As has been mentioned above, his educated guess is a much lower figure and can be heard directly from him speaking on the latest BSLB podcast, which is a fascinating listen.

I reckon we are worth about 60-70m

No way, maybe next yeah with massive overheads if we were stuck in league one.

Wrexham were valued at £350m in January as a mid table championship club.

People do realise that Methven is quite likely able to get an accurate valuation based on his contacts in the game and associates with CitiGroup who are leading on the sale?

We are worth whatever top and a potential new owner can agree on. That doesn't help but the devil is in the details (of which none of us know the full scale of the bollox we are in).

What we can likely guess on is that whatever Top wants, won't be as close to what he actually gets.

He has to accept a big loss IMO otherwise he will bankrupt us and himself even more.

It’s understandable as to why people would get conflicted on this when you’ve got people like Charlie giving a good well constructed knowledgeable account of the situation on BLSB’s

And then a Club owner of 20+ years in Darrah saying completely the opposite almost

Naturally that’s going to cause confusion I guess when both of them are in far better positions to have a more knowledgeable opinion on it, yet being so wildly different to eachother

Valuations are largely based on how a buyer and seller wishes to structure a deal. Those NDAd won’t be discussing anything with Methven, so his ideas will be based on his knowledge and heresay. He’s probably bang on, but might be well out.

I’ve been involved in several buyouts of technology companies and each was structured differently. The thing to remember is the buyer holds all the cards in a situation like LCFC . Buyers can structure deals based on revenue or profitability over several years, knowing full well targets cannot be met. Or they can buy outright in cash and try and leverage the opportunity immediately if they think there is one. A smart buyer will dangle a carrot, but aim to pay as little as possible.

Wrexham isn't a good comparison. Regardless of history and "size", they have created a huge, global brand, particularly visible in the States. They have a TV show and huge commercial value, as evidenced by the type of sponsorship deals they've managed to make.

Wrexham are a completely different beast. We'd have to look at a Sheffield Wednesday or the like for a similar valuation nowadays anyway, I think.

Yes 100%, he won't know the real important info but there'll be a sales deck valuation range that he's likely to get a steer on.

I think we will go for way more than he says but the threat of administration can't be that car down the line as the numbers don't compute past this season.

It'll be renamed the HC Stadium.
