Happy with that if the fee reported is as low as suggested. Some here were panicking that we were about to chuck £3-4 million at him, so £75k is excellent business.

 

Three years for a player with a poor recent injury record is incredibly generous business though. VERY curious to know what wage we've offered him, because if it's anything over 10k a week we've clearly learnt nothing, low fee or not.

Good bloke and if he stays fit he'll rip Div 1 apart, but 3 years for a 32 year old, whose had a serious injury in the last year or two, just snacks of us not learning anything from our financial **** ups of the last few years.

Positives

A few experienced players were always going to come through the door this summer, our leadership group and culture badly needed changing, and Russell Martin wanting signings like this, clearly indicates that he’s trying to rectify those two things. Burns has also linked up with Chaplin in the past, so hopefully they can roll back the years and revive their partnership.

 

Negatives

3 year contract which shows those at board level have learnt absolutely nothing.

Another 3 year contract for another player in the twilight years of his career with a poor injury record. Would be nice if Rudkin and Aiyawatt would learn from the old adage that "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".

A player who plays the same position as Fatawu (albeit a different profile of player), it reeks of disguising an exchange as part of that deal.

Maybe, his contract will probably leak soon enough. Surprised the fee was only £75k though, even if he does only have 1 year left, as he is still a top Championship level player according to Ipswich fans.

Whole deal is strange, we sold Fatawu to Ipswich 21st July and then Burns signs 2 weeks later as a direct replacement from the same club. 

 

Have we missed out on our first choice, or has Burns been holding out for 3 years?
