Back home again after my second bout of pneumonia this year. Long term stays  in Stoke Manderville hospital , due to collapsed right lung.

It's great to be "free" again.

What ward were you on if you don’t mind me asking

I had a nice day yesterday, we went to the High Commissioner's Residence to celebrate the Queen's birthday and the birth of the Prince. All very lovely.

I’ve never been to Africa MC but we are thinking about travelling there next year ...    perhaps we could meet up at the High Commissioners place for a swift pint me old mate ...

(It’s not what you know it’s who you know).

Lanzarote calling. First 2 days here a bit cloudy and cold, quite nice today. Watched the match tonight and the gaffa of the pub is from Birstal. Should be alright for Saturday's match.

Is Puel still here?

That Roland was around a foot long in the body, the fenn trap jaws are about 6 inches in length. I rebaited last night and it’s gone today, trap didn’t go off though, intelligent things they are, I’ll persevere.

Think I’d move out for a few weeks until it was all sorted, these are huge

Do you happen to have some allotments etc nearby, which happen to grow seeds and fruits etc (as rats are known to especially consume them if they're in the area)?

Another day looming at a company I have no idea how it is still going.

I was going to quit but so many have walked recently that they gave me £30 quid a week extra to stay but the place is now so badly run I'm surprised the customers are still around, too many office staff, too many managers who do not know what they are doing and more non productive than productive personnel and shocking health and safety practices.

The place would make a great real life weekly docudrama.

One way or another I'm not going to be working here come the end of the year :)

Is it a large company or a small business?

Having been redeployed a couple of months ago, the company decided to have another restructure on the very same day I started my new job  I had to go through aspirations, and was at risk of being moved back to my old role. I have found out this morning that I am staying in my new job, which I absolutely love. It's a joy to look forward to coming into work again :)

A sign of the  times ...    firstly the log, a group of nearby p1keys are being moved on and entry points to the forest have to be blocked ..   and secondly, and far worse, fly tipping by that even more terrible bunch of social low lifes ..   painters and decorators !! ...   this lot should be rounded up and sent in a big ship to Australia ...   perhaps we ought to do our bit and ban Webbo from this site ...

Its' another new day and another new start. Gopt loads of work to do apart from taking care of office matters. Have to do laundry, pick up the kids and then, do grocery. Will be pretty much a very engaging day for me and also heard that some of my wife's friends are coming over so, gotta take care of that as well.

Yeah but don't send him to Australia, he'd like that.

Deport him to Coventry instead.

Had my first experience of Grass Roots football yesterday, my cousin coaches Croft Junior Blues U14s. I had been wanting to go and watch for a while. I ended up being a linesman lol. Was quite interesting to watch kids try to play a proper competitive match. Since I was the linesman though I really had to pay attention, was an interesting experience. The game ended 2-2 and seeing as the opposition (Saffron Dynamo) had players much bigger than Croft it was a great result, they fought well and got stuck in. One of our goals was a 40 yard punt that bounced 3 times and over their keeper, our CB obviously meant it lol.

Reminded me of playing for my old school football teams, I never went any further than that though. I may have to make it a regular thing watching them and maybe become an assistant coach. My cousin was a goalkeeper growing up so there were a few things I picked up on that he wouldn't necessarily pick up on.

Was also nice to see parents not get into the referee. Was quite a respectful match. Although one dad came to watch with a can of Boddingtons in his hand lol.

Been pressing work to start recruiting to replace me, because come end of August I'm leaving to do a PhD in thermal chemistry (16 weeks left). Wrote them a draft advert middle of last week and every time I've chased them on it it's been "we'll discuss it tomorrow". They've now turned round and asked if I'd defer entry for a pay-rise. Said no, and now they're offering funding for my PhD in return for having their name attached to the research.

That's a tempting offer tbh.

What are you thinking?

Weather's nice and all my meat (Kangaroo steaks, burgers and sausages, ostrich burgers, crocodile burgers, alpaca burgers, venison burgers and sausages, camel sausages, buffalo sausages and zebra sausages) has turned up. Tonight's gonna be tidy.
