I expected the likes of Griezmann, Carrasco and Saul to really shine over the two legs, but they came across as nothing more than decent, rather than great, players. It's the media hype around these teams that makes us believe that they world beaters - they are not. Make no mistake... better finishing and we win that game. Maybe not by two goals as Atletico would come forward more.... but we should've won tonight. Chilwell, Shinji and Vardy will all be frustrated they didnt net.

dynamark Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 Awful lot of crosses didn't quite do the job Chilwell just tossing it in and Albrighton managed to pop it over two attackers and short of the third on one occasion.. But bloody good effort and great tactically changes

Orange seat Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 Proud of the lads, they gave everything tonight. The standing ovation the whole ground gave to the team in the last few seconds of the game was pure class.
ALC Fox Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 I have to say, Simeone was very gracious in victory. Classy bloke. Shakespeare to stay now. People say the owners might want a big name but for me we have to continue the spirit and desire we have in the dressing room. Yes there needs to be some sort of transition in terms of some of the playing personnel (Mahrez is likely to go, we need centre backs, etc.). But that spirit needs to stay. Shakespeare is the common denominator. Allow him to build a team of staff around him similar to when Walsh and his scouts were here, the psychologist, whoever. With Shakey we have the right mentality. A few key additions and we can surprise people again next season (not saying the title but top 6 or 7 perhaps).
Cadno'r Cymoedd Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 Was very disappointed we didn't at least get the win we deserved on the night I felt. Good subs at start of second half. But felt we missed a trick in not bringing Gray on in about the 75th minute. Game as a tie was slipping away by then. Still pride in the whole CL campaign (Porto away apart) and tonight. Forza Foxes!
JackBonaventura Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 ATM supporter here. Respect to you, guys. We are a rock in playoffs since Simeone came to the club. He controls everything and our players follow him with blind faith. I know that we are an historic team. No doubt about it. But, tonight Leicester City really scared us. I think that everything has been said. Be proud of your team, buddies. This is the way. This is the philosophy.
fazzyfox Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 I'm still thinking of sending an open letter to UEFA about the dodgy pen, you never know
TheMightySystem Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 https://streamable.com/8refe Find it hilarious the way Chilwell runs over to the ref about handball then turns around and seen we have scored Can't be disappointed about tonight. The players were brilliant and haven't let us down at all. Proud in the last minute with the whole ground standing up singing.

He may have been gracious in victory but he definitely isn't a classy bloke, in fact I'd say he's the exact opposite.
RussianFox Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 Didn't lose a single game at home in Champions League, and should have won all five. Not bad from those little plucky foxes whose sole task was not to embarrass England in Europe, I think.
filbertway Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 Was hoping we'd go 3 4 3 at ht, glad he went for it. If we managed to nick another one of our chances before the 70 mark you wonder what could have been. Can't fault the effort, but some of the players seemed to turn into league two players. I feel like a few of the lads were overawed with the occasion. Hats off to them though, a league win and a very respectable run in the champions league run. As someone else said, it almost feels like the end of an era now. We'll look back on this group with great affection for the rest of our lives.

I thought the game was tailor made for him. Think he might be off in the summer now. Not for me. Gray far too often runs into brick walls, and brick walls were aplenty in that Atletico side tonight. He'd have been as frustrating as he has been all season. I hope he improves and succeeds with us but he isn't quite there yet.
kingfox Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 So proud of the lads tonight, couldn't of asked for anything more in terms of effort, we were the better team tonight and if it wasn't for some unlucky moments we could of well won that tbh. First half I thought was pretty even but Atletico looked a class above defensively, was very difficult to break their shape down. Second half we pummelled them, had our chances and played with incredible effort. Chilwell was excellent bombing up and down that left flank, the defence pretty much cut everything out in terms of attacks, I'd probably give Simpson MOTM, so solid yet again. Great effort, great atmosphere, great memories.
fuchsntf Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 Little ol Leicester...Think really think about this.....!!!! We only lost 2-1 on aggregate, to one of the top 4 teams in Europe, from the last 4-5 seasons. We dont have their quality over the 1st 15 players, a couple of equals maybe... We had them worried, unfortunately not long enough... For me should ofs, or could ofs.not relevant... Every single player tried their best, a 2nd goal before the 80th minute would have put the fox among the chickens, Madrid to be fair were strong along all their lines, their defence compact, and their experience seen them win those 2nd balls. Not blaming Ndidi by any chalk, but the loose balls kept falling behind him and DD. We miss in these top games a quality 3rd Midfielder. I would be more than happy to follow a simular growth to Amadrids. Shakespeare no negatives, he used all rescources and tried to think also out of the box...top marks...
Fox1997 Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 What a journey it's been. From League 1 to Championship to Premier League to Champions League. We've fought every step of the way, and earned every success we've had. I'm proud of the players, proud of the fans, and, above all, proud of my club.
MrSpaM Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 If we take anything away from that game tonight it should be the singing at the end to support the team even though we lost the draw, great effort from the fans, that's what supporting your team is all about
Livid Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 Just immensely proud of them all. They gave everything they had. A better ref in the first leg and a bit of luck tonight and the dream would have continued.
lee7 Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 That first goal for them really was crucial. First half yet again we didn't create enough. We ran around a lot and pressed all over but I never thought for one minute that we'd get anything out of the tie. Second half though the majority of the players played like men possessed in particular Fuchs, Benny, Schmeichel & Chillwell. Fuchs looked extremely comfortable at centre half also! I was impressed by his cameo there. On another night some of those chances that were blocked on the way in may have found the back of the net but it just wasn't to be today. The difference between the two sides was how clinical teams like Atletico are. They've basically had two clear cut chances over two legs, buried them both and it's been enough to see them through. We had more than enough chances to win the game in that second half but Atletico defended immensely.
Parafox Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 so proud. We showed what we are capable of. A minor Premier league team taking Atletico Madrid to a draw bearing in mind their pedigree. Spurs. Arsenal, Man city, Chelsea, ManU... where were you ? Behind LCFC, that's where.
iamafox Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 We battered them in the 2nd half, created a host of chances and were unlucky to have scored only one goal. But to Atletico's credit, they were very resilient.

What part of his second half performance i pressed you the most?
brucey Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 Our amazing 3-5-2 second half was the formation of the great escape - Pearson's legacy. I hope Ranieri realises that, especially with the recent comments about 'his' 4-4-2.
