Think about it as a player you won the friggin league with Lcfc amazing but it ain't gona happen again and it's become apparent that we won't become a mega spender. You have had that taste and probably want more. Players I am pretty much sure feel like that are drinkwater kasper mahrez. What you regard as obvious to you isn't necessarily what others might see or think...
Filberts lovechild Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 Love DD. Shame to see him go. Very underrated I feel. We need to reshape the midfield a bit,,I fear we're a bit slow / lack creation with just Ndidi and Iborra. Need rid of Amartey let's be honest. A possession whore of a midfielder with a good link up play is needed imo
Filberts lovechild Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 I'd also add we need to look at getting the banter back, DD is a big dressing room character I fear we have lost our way a bit in that regard

Realistically will he ever play Champions League football at Leicester. Yes we won the League, but when you look at the spending power of the top 6, we can't compete with that. I know the owners are loaded, but compared to the top teams we are still considered a small club that will struggle to attract the very best. Unless there is another freak season, I feel the best we can hope for is Europa League qualification. I'm not being defeatist, just realistic. Football will implode within 10 years if the current rate of spending continues.

Come off it, Mahrez has handed in a transfer request, DD would not reject chelsea if the rumours are true and kasper deserves to play for a club who will be in europe, the man changed his agent to help with this and if De Gea goes he will be straight to old trafford. May be not this season but at some point.
foxfanazer Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 The more I think of it I'd be gutted to see DD leave. Horribly inconsistent but on his day he's top class and was desperately unfortunate to not play at the last Euro's. I don't trust our recruitment team to reinvest the money we get for him so the fee is irrelevant really

lcfc278 Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 I personally cant see this one happening and I'm glad. Danny is a class midfielder and should be closer to the England team than some of the questionable call-ups they have had (Livermore, Henderson etc.). Fair enough last season was a bit of a blip for him but lets be honest it was for most of our squad after the exploits of the season before and the relatively small squad playing across 4 competitions. I think we'll see him back to his best this year alongside Wilf and Iborra. If I am completely wrong and he does go and we do get the £30m as quoted in some of the papers, that is a hefty amount but like others have said, I'm not confident we would efficiently use that money to replace him and to be honest theirs not many out their like him.

If we were compotent with our recruitment Drinkwater at £30m would be a sell all day long. I think he's been brilliant and one of the best CM's in the league in our title win and up to November last season but his alarming dip in form since then and the other options we have in house in his position I would sell at that price.

It does seem like some of the unity built between the player during the Pearson era has been lost. But I do believe Shakespeare can bring that back
st albans fox Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 Seems this Chelsea offer is serious they could soon be pre occupied re hazard's future so they may try and get this done double quick this week or just shelve it.
Happy Fox Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 It would be criminal to sell him if we haven't got somebody who is equally as good as he is and potentially better lined up. Yes we need a playmaker but Silva isn't that.
TiffToff88 Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 How Chelsea will line up if they DON'T sign Drinkwater: Cortois Rudiger Luiz Cahill Moses Alonso Kante Bakayoko Pedro Hazard Morata How Chelsea will line up if they DO sign Drinkwater: Cortois Rudiger Luiz Cahill Moses Alonso Kante Bakayoko Pedro Hazard Morata

DD was acknowledged by Pearson as a player who was a complicated character who rarely does interviews and is a bit miserable so 'frustrated and huffy" is nothing new. Rob "Cracking Bunch Of Lads" Kelly would not approve.
UniFox21 Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 One reason I think he won't go is his career stalled whilst being on the periphery of the Man U team, and ended up being loaned, can see it being similar here, he'd get the odd cup game, but not the consistent time he does at Leicester
lgfualol Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 Pretty funny, because if he wants to go to the World Cup he has more chance getting in the squad going to Chelsea and playing 2 minutes a month than he does having a decent season with us playing every game.

If he wants to go to the world cup he needs to stop dropping out of England squads... he's had a call up every time since the title win, each time he's chosen to rest and recover... Doubt moving to Chelsea would make any difference.

ronnup Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 Southgate said he'd been in every squad without injures.
