ronnup Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Thinks he's like Pirlo? Now I love DD more than anyone but that's bullshit, also, £30 million for the new Pirlo? If he thinks that then £250 million please.

I have no doubt the club new. As it seems reports say they wanted him last season. This whole thing could be a lot further forward than we think.
Micky Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 The whole thing could also be bullshite. Just like the apparent bid from Bournemouth for Demarai Gray - that was never even made.
Innovindil Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 If we get £30mill for a player who's forgot how to pass the ball forward it will be the biggest football related robbery ever.
weller54 Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 He'll look World Class playing alongside Kante... But then again who wouldn't?
lcfc81 Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 I think Danny drinkwater is a very good player, and (surprisingly) under-rated on here. I personally would take the position of not selling any of the title winning main men, unless it wasn't humanly possible to keep them.
Livid Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 IF he went for £30 million and we added an extra £20 million on to get Siggurdson I would be over his loss instantly.
Edingleyfox Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 The rumours are gathering pace suggesting £37m offer accepted on twitter and suggestions elsewhere that both Drinkwater and Kante wanted by Chelsea last summer. At 2/7 on SkyBet starting to look more credible.Going to put a lot on James or Iborra to fill the gap and compete on work rate although I think if James remains injury free he can be very good. I remember James looked very promising before his injury (at that time was keeping Drinkwater out of the team).Someone is probably going to have to go to bring in the likes of Gibson etc as we have spent about £50 mill with very little money coming in.
filbertway Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 No bother, we've got Matty James Worst case, we're back where we were last season with hopefully Iborra also able to step in and do well (other wise he's a pointless signing).
NeilLCFC Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Don't want to see him or any of the other title winners go, but if a bid of £35m comes in for DD, then I think it's got to be goodbye.
lanefox Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Snatch there hand off for £35 million didnt we only sign him for 1 million

I sort of agree, that's a very generous sum. On the flip side if we go and waste it on two Musa's it's poor business. As as much as James has looked good pre season it would be dangerous to rely on him too much this season imo. Sell Drinky and get Adrien Silva and I'd be happy. Be just as happy if he stayed though
SecretPro Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 I would take the money and run. I feel we are better equipped in the middle than I previously thought and I was wrong about Matty James - I think he can fill Drinkys boots. To be honest, I don't think Drinkwater is overly important to the side, we have other players that play with the same style. I'd let him go and use the money to pick up somebody more attacking minded, someone who can play those important probing balls with some degree of regularity.

st albans fox Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Matty James can't have long left on his contract - if DD leaves, that could get interesting .........

SheppyFox Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Pirlo?! like everyone else in the title winning season, complimented heavily by Kante, he's nothing special, he hasn't been since that season either imo
Gerard Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 After watching DD since November last season this is a sell all day long. He had been brilliant for 18 months up to that point but no one can be sure which DD we have at the club. IF you have a great recruitment team it makes sense to sell players when they've peaked and on a slight downturn. I'm also not averse to selling a lot of our title winning team as they've climbed their Everest and might be going stale here. DD isn't one of our most vital players anymore, I'd put Mahrez, Vardy and Kasper all ahead of him and possibly the new boys of Ndidi, Iheanacho and Maguire as well and those three still have something to prove here. For £30m he can go with my blessing.
Tuna Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 The point about Drinky is we know how good he is and can be. He had a bad season due to carrying an injury and Ranieri failing to replace Kante and pairing him with useless midfield partners such as Mendy, King and Amartey and putting too much pressure on the lad. Selling him would be a mistake and would show a lack of ambition from the football club.
chadlcfc Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 If Drinkwater goes, that money has got to go towards getting Siggy in. We look at little lost creatively.
sphericalfox Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Has Drinky been quoted as actually wanting to leave? Do any of the ITKs corroborate this? I love Drinky, however, anything £30m+ is not something the club can dismiss given the numbers of CM we have, and James coming back into the fore (esp last night's performance).
M0901 Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 The Mirror states he's ready to tell Leicester he wants to join Chelsea. I'm so 50/50 on this one.
