This game is going to let some marks despite of the daylight robbery. Shakey isn't showing any tactical cleverness. The PL might be one size too big for him. This is exactly the same thoughts I had watching the game yesterday. I'm prepared to give him a little longer - I don't believe change is automatically good - but he needs to get some results quickly. I particularly despaired with his suggestion that 5/9 points against Brighton, Huddersfield and Bournemouth was a good return. At 7/9 perhaps i would have agreed, but this appraisal of the results implies something (at least in my mind)abut his ambitions.
cropstonfox Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 Any reason or excuse to keep him is if he was not involved with the s..t recruitment over all windows since winning the league.we are leicester city we are on a fifth of the budget of the traditional top five.we won the league with players who were scouted and improved.we have paid relatively high fees for players quite sub-standard to what we all ready have here.we need to start scouting again.if shakey chose any of the new shower he deserves to go now.
norwichfox Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 I went along with the masses that wanted him as manager, but would have preferred a short term rolling contract until he'd had a year under his belt as our Helmsman. As it's turned out there aren't any reasons to keep him based on his current performances. Poor team selection, favouring "the old brigade" over incoming "mega bucks" signings, back up game plan is non existent to use when our 4-4-2 fails yet again, allowed Ulloa to sign an extension to his contract, also, it appears to me that we are getting a number of injuries on the training field preventing players from playing (although these injuries may be "PR injuries" to justify the non selection. His "good relationship" with senior players is limiting his thought process when selecting team and bench, he's allowed Mendy to go before we had a replacement signed....the more I think about it, he's offering us fcuk all but p!ss poor results, even when we get a few games that are worth watching. I like to be entertained whilst watching a football match, but even more important is that the entertainment happens in the premier league...and that isn't going to be the case next year if we stick with Shakespeare. Sorry Craig, but you have to go and soon.

If he shows he can turn it around then stick by him. A loss against West Brom would confirm his fate. A win would give him a stay of execution. A draw would be very tricky. The saddest part is that we've put in decent performances against the big teams but played dogshit against the smaller.

He knows it all too well. I could take a loss if we played well or tried another system that needs some time and adjustements. But I see nothing. Same 4-4-2, same starters game in game out. Dropping Mahrez proved one thing, we're crappier without him, even when he's not in form. Gray did all he could with the rare, poor balls he got, but that wasn't enough. He has 4 games left. If he doesn't turn it around, he's gone.
Jakemoore Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 It's still early days? Give him ten games? I don't even think I believe in those statements myself to be honest. The most worrying thing for me isn't the points return from 7 games because 4 of them have been horrendous fixtures and we were in all of them. The worrying thing is the poor performances against Huddersfield and Bournemouth. We went to both games looking for a draw. We have been so boring to watch which is something I've rarely had to say about us in the past 5 years. Against Brighton we massively outclassed them and cruised to victory but we wasted so many chances and should have really been out of sight by half time. I worry that when we play the teams who want to stop us winning (I.E those who wouldn't necessarily consider themselves better than us) we just don't know how to put the ball in the net. We scored a penalty against Huddlesfield and Chelsea but other than that we didn't look like scoring. And yesterday we had one good chance - which Shinji should be scoring but one chance in 90 mins is unacceptable. The only games we have shown cutting edge in has been against Arsenal, Brighton & Liverpool all of which don't know how to defend. Maybe there are 3 worst teams than us. I pray to God there are.
filbertway Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 The only reason to keep him is because the incompetents picking the next manager could quite easily make it worse.
Hanan96 Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 take a look at our league opponent recently home game : Brighton albion , Chelsea, Liverpool away game : Arsenal, Huddersfield, man utd, bournemouth I can't see us getting much point easily by those kind of drawing. Playing away were always hard. even you got lesser opponent, they would got extra morale boost while you have none. we won again brighton in our home games. we lost to chelsea and liverpool while gave them hard fight. we also fight arsenal and man utd so well. while we play poor again huddersfield and bournemouth, we play away games. we play more good game rather than bad games. we didn't get home bad result yet we also play very good in cup tie that we beat liverpool. I would like to have shakespare more chance, at least 2 more games againts lesser team. then we will decide wheter he stay or go, step down is never a good option when he's already our manager for few months.

No we didn't. We were shit, Liverpool should have ended that first half completely out of sight, and even then we only got back into it because shakespeare was forced to undo a decision everyone could see was moronic pre-match. As for playing more good than bad games - we've been abysmal the last 4 league matches, so I'm not seeing that at all.
surrifox Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 Maybe allow him the opportunity to deploy a fit again James or an out of jail Silva in midfield instead of Hobson s choice King

chris_lcfc_85 Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 He's not helping himself but we've not been consistently bad enough in the opening 7 games to justify the sack yet. However, I do believe the next two games are massive for the club and him

volpeazzurro Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 Reasons to keep Shakespeare ......none whatsoever and certainly wouldn't keep him here as coach either. I feel he would be a malignant force that would undermine any future manager. The sooner he's gone the better.
somebum Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 What shall we do with the big fat shakey What shall we do with the big fat shakey What shall we do with the big fat shakey? Sack him in the morning!
suffolk fox Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 reasons to keep mr pilsbury dough absolutely none
StriderHiryu Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 There is one reason for me - Shakespeare has signed good players this season. The way we have been playing recently is relegation form, but the thing we have in our locker is that we have a far better squad and better technical players than we have ever had. If we line up with Maguire, Iborra, Ihenacho, Mahrez and Gray we have players that can play, whereas to be honest in the past we could only really play direct. 442 or 4411 with Shinji no matter how you want to call it results in us having no possession. We won the title with it, but the league has wised up and it's time for us to evolve our style. If he starts with technical players and tries to get us to play some football then we could do well. So for me it depends on how stubborn he is. Given we have West Brom next week I think we will line up 442 again. Even with our midfield issues, if we tried to play something like King, Iborra, Ndidi in the middle to get hold of the ball and make something happen we could look totally different. When Iborra and Nacho were on the pitch, they looked to play it instead of hoofing it so we have enough players to do it. I even think that Vardy can play as the one up top because if we try and play it on the ground, the guy is surprisingly intelligent with his movement and has a good touch and vision. Of course we could look worse, but I think CS did a good job strengthening the spine of the team and making the squad deeper. But if we are not going to use that strength in depth and potential options then there is no reason to keep him. To be honest I expect another draw or loss next week and think he will be gone by Christmas. But I like the guy and think he could still turn it round. But he needs to be brave enough to try something else because it's obviously not working at the moment. Pearson did have the guts to go 3-5-2 and changed the team mentality to have a go. We don't have to change to that system (though perhaps we should), but we need something like that because the most frustrating thing in the last 2 seasons has been that we hoof it way too often. We can still score goals on the counter even if we try and play some football!

We aren't elite club. Our squad consist of mid-table player. Aside from schmeichel, mahrez, and maybe ndidi in his peak few years ahead would those big team willing to use our player? We don't compete with those top six or big club to get our signing , nor we fight hard enough to keep our player from big team interest. expecting us to beat any big club easily is madness. Againts them, our best hope is to chalenge them, and get 1 point if lucky. not beat them. we aren't man utd, arsenal, etc. even during our title winning season, their poor performance does help us alot.

Nah, Liverpool wasted the chance to put us to the sword, don't remember us wasting many chances vs Arsenal, or besides the penalty vs Liverpool (and liverpool missed just as good a chance when cans shot bounced out to Salah). Played against big clubs... great thing about when we get smashed by distinctly mediocre sides next month is people won't be able to hold up this excuse. We started abysmally against all 4, didn't get going until the game was gone vs Liverpool or Chelsea, got away with it vs Huddersfield and somehow got lucky enough to not lose massively at Bournemouth. Whether we've played big clubs is irrelevant, the issue is not the points tally, it's that our manager has all the nouse of a dead gerbil. Coutinho rips us apart in the cup? Makes no attempt to counteract that in the league, surprise surprise, he runs the show with so much freedom you'd have thought Soulsby gave him the key to the city pre-match. Start slowly in every match having said that the only way we can play is to get at teams from the off? He either can't set a side up or can't motivate them.
Tuna Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 We're only delaying the inevitable by keeping him on. He's another Tim Sherwood/John Carver, hopelessly out of his depth he's hardly going to get better at 54 years old either is he? I'll hold my hands up and say I got it badly wrong in wanting him appointed in the summer, especially considering we could have had Silva at the time.

So far we have beaten a very poor Brighton side ( my god that was boring ) drew against a newly promoted nailed on relegation Huddersfield ( grand theft ) and stole a point against Bournemouth another nailed on relegation side. If you can't see us as another dead cert religation side then you need to take off those blue tinted glasses. Sticking with Shakespear is not an option and I fully expect him to be gone if we lose against W.B.A .
