First 133 minutes of this tie were truly forgettable, the last 47 were much better to watch. Two very well-made and taken goals and an upset avoided. Liked the team we put out but the performance early on was really poor.

 

Need to improve for the next round, Peterborough away will be tougher than this.

Started off pretty non-eventful. Happy for Iheanacho to have scored 2 and hopefully got a big confidence boost from that.

A fairly professional job in the end after a dismal start. Pleased for Iheanacho, hope it gives him confidence. Don’t know what the future holds for Slimani tbh.

I think Claude decided to bin the tactics primer (who can cross to whom) to go back to first principles on Iheanacho.    He pulled Slim to put KI in the one situation where we KNOW he can produce, free in front of goal against a tired defense.  And did he light up.  Huge step toward bringing his confidence back.

 

Good man management IMO.

 

A game which will be remembered for the first VAR goal, we may remember as being the game where Kelechi started getting out of his own way.

mission accomplished and 2nd half was much better tonight. Played with a bit more energy and speed when attacking. May have been down to Fleetwood tiring but you can only beat what's in front of you and it was job done.

 

Surprised Okazaki came on though. Understand why Vardy did i.e. sentimentality but no need to use Okazaki just for those 10 mins. 

 

Iheanacho took his goals well. Great assists for both, too.

Easy win as soon as the team gelled together. Silva and Iheanacho both fantastic. Made Fleetwood look like what they are, League 1 cloggers.

Happy to see Kelechi make an effort once he’s scored... that’s all we ask for! 

 

Hopefully he gets a couple of league starts starts when we hit a bit of form again.

 

As for Slim, id imagine that was his last game for us and I won’t be sad if it is, never seen the like of him in a city shirt and I doubt we will again... potentially good for a route one side but zero work rate.
