I'm aware he has a thread stating his move to Swansea. But let's face it, he'll be gone in the summer. (Certain FTs will be on my back no doubt) ?

 

I just wanted to start a thread dedicated to the sort of player the modern game is missing. Yes his form/overall influence deteriorated in the last 4/5 seasons but we can't deny his legacy.

 

3 league titles in the top 3 divisions, you could argue the Premier League title run started with his winner against West Ham the season before that ignited the team's form.

 

I'm not going to state he's our greatest ever player, he's not. But what he's accomplished with the club, with such an admirable attitude, deserves recognition. Not to mention being our top scoring midfielder!

wanted him to stay forever, but it sounds like he wanted to go and play football so can’t hold him in our reserves any longer, especially if another premier league club wanted him. 

 

he’s played for us for over 10 years, he’s done the lot. he is one of us. he cried when we cried, he got smashed celebrating when we got smashed celebrating. gave us more memories than most players or fans could ever dream of.

You can't knock the guy, 300+ appearances for us and clearly a top guy. I'll be honest, I just wish he was a bit more effective at the highest level. I really, really want him to be a solid top flight performer for us but I'm not sure he ever will be. That said, I'd be gutted if we sold him!

There's still a chance of reconciliation and a return on the cards in the summer, so quit the whining as if he's left for good already, support your Leicester "legend" at Swansea, cheer him on, feel happy for him.

He'll always be a hero to me, one of many. But a hero nonetheless.

 

Now, let's focus on our task(s) ahead for the time being.

It's horrible seeing him anywhere else, obviously, but there's something kinda nice about the fact he's playing in the country he represents internationally.

I think this about sums it up. If we had never got promoted to the PL, and stayed around higher Championship level like Derby have done for a number of years, then he would be thought of as one of our best midfielders ever.

 

However we did get promoted and it has exposed the weaknesses in his game (or lack of dynamism) - but the fact is he did just as much as anyone to get us here and loves the club. Legend, but more because of attitude and longevity than talent.

Genuinely love the bloke. Went from being an important player for us to a squad player but never heard him moan once. True professional that really cared for this club.

Andy King is as much a legend for this club as Steve Walsh, easily. I remember him being one of the highlights of our season in League 1 which seems an age ago.

 

I'll be sad to see him go, just like I was sad to see Walsh go... but ultimately he's a professional footballer and needs games. He's not going to get them here in the current squad or anytime soon so it's for the best.

I was listening to the Birch on the radio this morning, and he reckons Kingy should tale over as club ambassador when he retires.

 

I like that idea.
