OntarioFox Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 He's in demand from other clubs, wants to be here and will more than likely take Wilf's place if the latter's upturn leads to him leaving. This extension makes plenty of sense. We either cash in or he gets more regular minutes in future seasons. Enzo clearly sees something in him. 1
majaco Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 Good. Decent player. Fantastic squad member. 2
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 (edited) Good for him and good for the club. He was close to MOM against Norwich and is a clear asset in this division. Can cover Winks' and Ricardo's positions so is good for him to have some financial stability and for us too. Means we can get a permenant or loan fee if we go up and he is deemed surplus then. Seems like a win, win to me. No transfer outlay for a youth product and good to have a player that gives a shit about Leicester. Edited 27 September 2023 by Basildon Fox

Hamza, for me, is nothing more than someone to throw on for ten mins when hanging onto a lead. A 4 year deal for that type of player is lunacy. If you think he’s worth that then I respect your opinion. It might not have dawned on you, but we are currently a championship club. IF we actually manage to get promoted, we are going to have a large turn around of players so not having to replace one more player is a good thing. We are basically starting all over again and cant expect to suddenly be a top half club instantly. It’s going to take a number of years to get the squad back to anything close to the quality it was… if we ever do! 6
Guest Mee-9 Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 Waste of money this. Hopefully we move him on when we go up, not Prem class.
Popular Post Lambert09 Posted 27 September 2023 Popular Post Posted 27 September 2023 our fans “why do the club keep allowing people to leave for free” also our fans “why are we renewing someone’s contract” He’s improved a lot over the last season and those 4 years take him through to his prime. He has a part to play here this season and will be signed eventually by a team fighting for promotion in the championship. Relax guys 14

Nowhere near good enough for the PL. i trust Enzo, the captains arm band shows Enzo rates his personality. to go and replace him with a player at the same level you are talking a minimum of 5 million. can play a few positions and is home grown. he not going to be on 80k and week or even close. has also been willing to go on loan so clearly not just bothered about the pay and sitting on his arse. We need a mix and young hungry players and homegrown players who actually give a shit about the club. He always gives 100% A sensible extension Edited 27 September 2023 by Cincinnati Fox 2
lgfualol Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 He was brilliant in the game he captained and I imagine he will play a big part this season, just hope we haven’t given him an unnecessarily large pay increase. 1
Popular Post lanefox Posted 27 September 2023 Popular Post Posted 27 September 2023 The same people moaning about him getting 4 years are the same people who would moan if he left on a free next year 9
brookfox Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 Would have been a shame to lose him for nothing next summer, and I wonder if the 4yr is actually more beneficial than a 2-3yr from an FFP perspective. Assuming his wages aren't too high he's a good asset to the squad. Main thing that surprises me is that Enzo has taken a shine to him! He always had a good engine on him but seemed to have limited footballing brain/technique to take a ball under pressure, be aware of his surroundings and ping it off at pace. Given that he's now 2nd choice by all accounts for Winks position he must have worked hard on that part of his game so fair play to him. Wonder who else we might be in negotiations with...Vesty? Ndidi? Kelechi?
MonkeyTennis? Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 Now play him tonight and give him the captain's armband. That would be some zen-level trolling.

Raj Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 I like him, but he must look in the mirror and think how lucky he has been to be rewarded with this contract! If i was him i'd go out and buy a lottery ticket!
dbtcity Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 I don’t get the commotion… surely it shows that we have learned our lesson as we’ve tied down a sellable asset who I can’t imagine will be on ridiculous wages… he’ll be a valuable squad player this season and if Enzo doesn’t feel that’s the case next season (hopefully after promotion) I’m sure we’ll have no problem picking up a few quid for him 1

FOXSE Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 Enzo will have had a good look at him and must feel he can do well in his system.
Jaspa Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 Leicester City's very own Valderama Intrigued to see what Enzo can do with him, because he's a backup player for us in the Championship yet we have aspirations to soon be Premier League. Start him tonight.
westernpark Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 Needs a new contract, simply based on him being an asset that was losing value by nearing end of contract. However, not sure leadership comes naturally to him, see previous incidents. Although, Maresca may be grooming and nurturing him by openly praising him and giving him more responsibility.

Its refreshing to see a player commit to leicester, instead of sitting on the fence, giving lip service to the cause. He now needs to step up to the next level, good luck to him. 1
ealingfox Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 Mind you, when I saw the silhouette photo my first thought was that it was Faes who'd been given a new deal, which would have been even more classic Rudkin banter.
Popular Post Xen Posted 27 September 2023 Popular Post Posted 27 September 2023 People were singing his praises after the game against Norwich, and he has the joint-highest average match rating this season (admittedly after just 2 games) on Foxestalk. He's a local lad, wants to play for the club (more than can be said for others recently), clearly has enough talent to at least do an adequate job as a squad player in the prem, and has leadership qualities that Enzo clearly respects enough to give him the armband. He was on a high salary before so this'll be on reduced terms (with clauses for promotion, presumably) and it means he's now a sellable asset rather than another player who'll end up out of contract (as so many on here keep complaining about). Honestly don't understand why people are criticising this so much? We've seen first-hand how Enzo's coaching and system has transformed players like Ndidi and Vestergaard, and there's no reason to think Hamza isnt capable of similar improvement. Rather this than spending a transfer fee + wages on someone new who won't have as much commitment and might not be a success either. 6
Simonb Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 I think with a manager like Enzo who clearly believes in him, he will kick on. He's a decent player but was too aggressive in the challenge, a bit of a walking red. Never really had a decent run in the team before either, just seemed to be used to fill in the cracks. He has a role now, and opportunity for plenty of games.. I think being given the responsibility of captain for the Norwich game will have lifted him too. Could be a very good deal. If it don't work out for him, I'd imagine we will get a reasonable fee 1
Le Renard Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 A few on here have already made their minds up about Hamza and think he's the worst thing since sliced bread(I live in France and sliced bread is sh*t). I still think and always believed there is a half-decent footballer in there, he just needs to get his head down work hard, and have that little bit of luck, then he can kick on and have a decent career at the club. 1
