BUT I think we could benefit hugely from having a genuine plan B striker. You just have to look at how well Glenn Murray did last season, to know that even at 34, a player that is strong and dominant in the air and hold up-play, still can have huge value for a team. I'd much prefer someone like Llorente or similar styled, than Diouf. Vardy and Iheanacho are going to play (hopefully) 80% plus of our games, but that 20% including 10-15mins towards the end of league games or full cup games even, could really benefit from having a different type of striker. Ulloa has always been that man for me, we should have used him more and never bought Slimani. Excellent in the air, holds the ball up well and can finish. He was brilliant when he came on against Atletico Madrid and caused them all sorts of problems when we went 3-4-1-2 against their compact formation and our wing backs played like wingers. Ulloa has his limitations but has been underused and could have saved us fortunes. 5

His first touch really lets him down and he often comes on and just looks very clumsy. At 32, and his style of play, he should still be able to do that role for us - and it would save us bringing someone else in and the cost of that. I just have doubts that he would be able to get back to anything like how he was for us previously. Perhaps that is why he still hasn't gone yet. Potential for him to still be that plan B "big lump, hold-up" striker. 1
Wymsey Posted 7 August 2018 Posted 7 August 2018 Had apparently been cut-off from the rest of the main team last season after a few disagreements with a few fellow players during training last season. Wage demands, and not transfer fee LCFC have requested for him to be sold at, a big stumbling block as you'd expect.

st albans fox Posted 7 August 2018 Posted 7 August 2018 Apparently, some reports from Saudi linking him to al hilal 1

Musa's probably just accepted that he is indeed shit.
ronnup Posted 7 August 2018 Posted 7 August 2018 Shame. Liked him and his scoring record speaks for itself. Just needs to be the top man and he’s no Vardy.
Gerard Posted 7 August 2018 Posted 7 August 2018 Only link I could find is two months old but interestingly his old manager Jorge Jesus is the manager of Al Hilal. We know how highly Slimani was thought of in Portugal and maybe Al Hilal want Slimani to respond to their competitors getting Musa? https://dzfootball.net/2018/06/02/al-hilal-want-to-take-slimani-to-saudi-arabia/
dbtcity Posted 7 August 2018 Posted 7 August 2018 (edited) Announced everywhere since the start of the summer transfer window, Islam Slimani has still not found a club while Leicester does not want him. According to several Saudi media today, the Algerian striker is now in advanced negotiations with the club Al Hilal. Club President Samy Al Jaber even met the player in London during the last hours and told him his desire and envy of his coach Jorgé Jesus to see him in blue jersey next season. For now, Slimani has not yet agreed to join Al Hilal but the Saudi press indicates that the player is interested in a new adventure in Saudi Arabia, he who refused to go to China a short time ago. les-tah Posted 7 August 2018 Posted 7 August 2018 The owner is a Saudi Prince with about 20 billion in the bank... I’d be well happy with this but unfortunately it doesn’t seem like we are reinvesting the money into the highest quality players to replace mahrez.

You do keep banging on with this same line and you've been shown many times that we've spent the cash on a group of players which make the team far better than a single riyad from the last seasons. Maddison alone looks better than anything we've seen from Mahrez since his head got too big for Leicester.

I just don’t feel comfortable with our wide options in midfield at the moment. Let’s hope I’m proved wrong though. When mahrez threw his toys out the pram in January/February last year Albrighton/Gray/diabate hardly set the wings on fire. But that’s my opinion. 6
SecretPro Posted 7 August 2018 Posted 7 August 2018 Just go then you fecking potato head. Bored of trying to flog these dead horses now.
Steve Earle Posted 7 August 2018 Posted 7 August 2018 Don’t know if the billionaire owner of Al Hilal knows who he’s talking to here. Slim is one of the deadliest number 9s in world football, as the stats from his time at Sporting testify. At Leicester he has a typically excellent goals-per-minutes ratio, and would have both played and scored more but for club politics, which demand the Sheffield-born striker Vardy starts 90% of games. If Al Hilal’s owner can whisk Slim away from Leicester for a cent under €30 he’d be seen as the Daniel Levy (no faith-based insult intended) of Arabian football. And it’d be the perfect riposte to that upstart club, Al Nassr. Of course on behalf of all Leicester fans, we hope you fail miserably and that Slim stays with us and plays more often with his friend and brother, Jamie Vardy?? 2

At this point even half his initial fee would pay for a new CB and his wages off books might cover the wages of two other players. Worth it. Edited 8 August 2018 by UPinCarolina 2

Let Maddison play a a season of games in the PL first before you claim the above, he's showed some nice touches in the friendlies, but not a lot of end product as yet. 1
