StriderHiryu Posted 11 October 2018 Posted 11 October 2018 Probably the biggest news all year for the club. Stadium expansion will soon follow and the potential of 3 Leicester players playing in one England game tomorrow night against the World Cup Finalists. The Blue army marches on! COYB!
Robin JD Popley Posted 11 October 2018 Posted 11 October 2018 To think, we've gone from nearly going out of business to winning the English Title, Champions League Away Days and now this. 'The Fairytale' keeps on getting better and better...

GingerrrFox Posted 11 October 2018 Posted 11 October 2018 **** you Seagrave. Jumped up locals, they have no idea how lucky they have it. The building of this training ground essentially assures that they won’t be ransacked with housing developments in the future.
Hollyfox Posted 11 October 2018 Posted 11 October 2018 Brilliant news. Just to think where we were, where we are and where we're heading ?
Crispin LA Posted 11 October 2018 Posted 11 October 2018 Just seen the pics of the new training ground, and I must say that it looks incredibly stunning, got to give a thumbs to the owners,

urban.spaceman Posted 11 October 2018 Posted 11 October 2018 It simply cannot be overstated just how ****ing huge this is for Leicester City Football Club. I mean this is quite possibly the most ambitious thing we've EVER done. Moving stadiums is big - of course. In our case it helped bankrupt us (with no help from taxpayers or special treatment from the authorities *cough*WestHamManCityTottenham*cough*). The King Power has definitely become our true home. Winning the league was absolutely huge - but we were never supposed to and had a threadbare squad that was fully exposed the next season. But this; we're spending £100m - the sort of money none of us ever thought we'd see - on a state of the art training ground. A facility that aims to be the best in Europe. That means being able to attract better quality players, maintaining our squads fitness to a much higher level, AND developing even more high quality youngsters. We're on the verge of a very, very bright future.
Tuna Posted 12 October 2018 Posted 12 October 2018 If it's not completed in time can we training ground share at St Georges Park?

davieG Posted 12 October 2018 Posted 12 October 2018 https://www.insidermedia.com/insider/midlands/go-ahead-for-foxes-new-training-base-plans GO-AHEAD FOR FOXES’ NEW TRAINING BASE PLANS 12 Oct 2018 Midlands Property Go-ahead for Foxes’ new training base plans Leicester City FC have been given the go-ahead to build a new training centre in Leicestershire. The Premier League club will now relocate from their base of more than 50 years. The 185.3-acre site at the former 18-hole Park Hill Golf and Fishing Centre is located between the villages of Seagrave and Thrussington in Leicestershire and will include ten full-size grass pitches, one external artificial pitch and one indoor artificial pitch. It will also feature six part-size grass pitches and two part-sized artificial caged pitches. The plan includes a four-court sports hall, a training centre for use by the club's first team and academy providing changing, training, sports science and medical facilities alongside management offices and 30 accommodation rooms for players and a covered show pitch stand with 499 seats. The former Premier League champions have been based in Belvoir Drive in Leicester since 1963. The plan has been drawn up by London-based KSS Design Group which has previously worked on projects for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur FC, Brighton and Hove Albion FC, Liverpool FC and England Rugby. The club is due to start work on the training centre in the coming weeks and aim to have it open by the 2020/21 season. The application also includes room for a nine-hole golf course at the Park Hill Lane site. According to documents submitted to Charnwood Borough Council, the buildings will have a total of 264,512 sq ft internal floor space, 301 extra car parking spaces and there will be full-time employment for 93 people. The club, who have said they want to create the best training ground in Europe, confirmed plans for the new centre in January. A document published by planning officers ahead of the meeting on Thursday said: "It is acknowledged that there is significant local opposition to the scheme, and this must be taken into account appropriately when reaching a decision on the application. "It should be noted that the applicant has developed the final proposal by considering those concerns and responding to them wherever possible. "However, opposition to the proposal in principle should be considered in light of the fact it complies with development plan policies and replaces an existing leisure facility with a new, albeit larger, leisure facility and concerns regarding the highway safety impacts need to be considered in light of the professional advice of the statutory consultees. "The proposed development would represent a suitable re-development of the current site, which would not have any significant impacts on the character or tranquillity of the countryside, the amenity of local residents, biodiversity, flooding or other material issues. "The proposed development would also not cause harm to the character, setting or significance of heritage assets within the locality. "The residual cumulative impacts of development on highway safety can be mitigated and are not considered severe." The council's officers had recommended to the authority's planning committee to either grant the application with conditions or enter into a section 106 agreement or be receipt of an 'Unilateral Understating'. A document submitted to the council on behalf of the club said: "The benefits of these facilities are self-evident; providing top quality training and rehabilitation facilities for the top club and international players which is demonstrated in match day performances. "LCFC’s existing first team and academy training ground at Belvoir Drive is located in a tight residential area within the city of Leicester and provides very limited pitch and indoor facilities on land which is only partially owned by the club. The club's current base in Leicester "The facility has gradually grown and been augmented in a piecemeal fashion over the years but there is no potential for further expansion. "The new development proposed at Park Hill, proposes a state of the art, bespoke facility which enables the club to compete against other Premiership clubs and attract the best players. "The presence of a Premier League training centre will create a significant benefit potential in terms of aspiration to train and play for the club among the local youth."

We're on the verge of a very, very bright future. I am impressed with your positivity but let’s not pretend that the best training facilities in Europe automatically gives us a better advantage. Players will come for the money and perceived success, or in some cases if a club is located in a nice part of the world. If we maintain the exact same structure I don’t see why players would favour us more because of some excellent training facilities. This isn’t to dismiss how class it’ll be to have such facilities but it’s not the biggest or important thing to ever happen to us, not unless it comes with the same level of ambition from the WHOLE of the football club. It’s a nice start though.

UniFox21 Posted 12 October 2018 Posted 12 October 2018 So around 18 months to build it and get ready for them to move in. Hopefully that allows for delays to happen as well and we can move in easily
