Popular Post weller54 Posted 12 April 2019 Popular Post Share Posted 12 April 2019 Disappointed he didn't feature tonight. Maguire is really overrated and we should be snapping Manchester utd's hand off if they bid for him in the summer.. Use that money to strengthen elsewhere because my God we need to!
Bezzanator89 Posted 12 April 2019 Share Posted 12 April 2019 Certainly did himself no harm but not featuring tonight. Was watching Maguire very closely and he may have been rusty after a couple of games out, but was not convinced at all by his performance. Caglar should be given more opportunities before the season is out. That is the only way we will see what this lad is truly made of. The race for seventh took a substantial hit tonight so it's not like it's make or break. Give him a chance Brendan, you have nothing to lose apart from a little bit of pride. Centre-back Soyuncu made just eight City appearances following his £19million switch from Freiburg, the form of Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans and Wes Morgan restricting him to a bit-part role, something he described as an "unlucky situation". The return of Filip Benkovic from a loan spell at Celtic could make life even harder for Soyuncu this coming season, but he is confident of making a bigger impact at City now he has adapted to life in England. This season, there will be no work-permit problems – a delay prevented him from arriving at City until mid-August last season – while he also hopes to stay free of injuries. “Due to injuries and work permit issues, I struggled to adapt at first,” Soyuncu told BeIn Sports. “That’s an unlucky situation for me. “And competition for places is very high. One of the players is playing for the England national team (Maguire) and the other is club captain (Morgan). “It was an unlucky situation, but I tried to do everything I could. Hopefully, I will get the reward of my hard work in the coming years. I’ll try to do my best.” Soyuncu not only had to adapt to a new country but a new style of football when he moved over from Germany last summer. Although he believes the Bundesliga and the Premier League have their similarities, the football is more relentless on these shores. “It’s as if they have closed the sides of the pitch, the ball is always in the game,” he said. “Both leagues are big and high-quality, but England is faster for me. The ball doesn't leave the game. You are either attacking or defending attacks “And the weather in England is a bit worse, with the rain.” Because of his limited game-time last season, Soyuncu has been linked with a loan move back to his native Turkey, with Besiktas, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce all supposedly keen. But the 23-year-old does not seem eager to return. “I will represent my country abroad as long as I can,” he added.

Popular Post Stadt Posted 27 June 2019 Popular Post Share Posted 27 June 2019 (edited) I think long term he’ll be a mainstay, Evans and Morgan are no spring chickens, you’d have thought Maguire will be off this season or next as well. He’ll afford us the flexibility to play higher up because our other options lack mobility. It seems his attitude is absolutely spot on too. I wouldn't have been surprised to hear of him wanting away, but he seems to have a fair assessment of the situation. Get him a few more minutes of pitch time this season both in the cups and as first reserve option (instead of Wes), another good season out out Maguire who we sell for big bucks next summer, then he's ready to come in as first choice alongside Evans or Benkovic the following season depending on how either have progressed regressed in the meantime. Or is that just wishful thinking?
TJB-fox Posted 27 June 2019 Share Posted 27 June 2019 He’s right he is unlucky, we’re lucky to have such good centre halves. Shows how strong we are in that department if he’s 4th (?) choice. Really like the look of him, from what little we’ve seen.
Foxxed Posted 27 June 2019 Share Posted 27 June 2019 We must have really thought Maguire was off last season to buy two centre halves. And now we've got two promising u23 centre halves coming through too.
leicesterseddon Posted 28 June 2019 Share Posted 28 June 2019 Will be interesting to see what happens next season with him. With Morgan getting on, I’d have thought he’d be 3rd in the pecking order behind Evans & Maguire now? If Maguire does leave, he could be a regular in the starting XI. Popular Post Ricey Posted 28 June 2019 Popular Post Share Posted 28 June 2019 If Maguire does leave, he has to be given a chance. Or else what's the point in spending in £19M on a young player in a similar mould to Maguire, only to sign someone like Lewis Dunk once Maguire does finally leave. He looks a bit rough around the edges but give him a good run of games and I think he could be brilliant for us.

Haywood_6 Posted 28 June 2019 Share Posted 28 June 2019 Soyuncu looks shredded in that picture. I really hope he's given more games this year, I think he'll be a great player but we've only seen glimpses so far. If Maguire does stay I'm not sure how we're going to keep all our centre backs happy.

Nicolo Barella Posted 30 June 2019 Share Posted 30 June 2019 If Maguire does stay I think we should loan Soyuncu out to Villa/Bournemouth/Norwich just so he can get some gametime in a team that plays the ball instead of parks the bus. Benkovic can establish himself as 3rd/2nd.

Then decide ,if deemed necessary,to see who goes out in loan.. We need 3-4 CBs,staying ,Injuries/Form will come into question..!!!....
RumbleFox Posted 30 June 2019 Share Posted 30 June 2019 He's one of those players that's just easy to like for reasons you can't even quite put your finger on. Some players you just want to do well from the start. Really hope he makes it here. X
Dan LCFC Posted 30 June 2019 Share Posted 30 June 2019 I'd give him a proper go this season. I do think he's got an error in him but he's got enough good about him to compensate for that. We should've given him a lot more games towards the end of the season when we had nothing to play for.

As he mentioned in his interview; injury and work permits really hindered him kicking from the start. A proper preseason and a year of settling into the culture and group should really help him. He looks to be in great shape and hopefully he can kick on in rotation with Evans and Maguire.
