southfox66 Posted 4 January 2019 Posted 4 January 2019 We seem to be in the ridiculous situation where the players most likely to play this game are leaving the club in this transfer window, can we play acedemy players? The thought of Vardy starting is daft

Get them in rather than having to drag them on late or end up having a weak side and forcing a replay or worse going out. I think we don't have enough quality to rest them. Albrighton only did 45 v Everton also. Did you see Albrighton after his 45 though? Still looked absolutely exhausted. Just because they're paid athletes, doesn't make them robots. Albrighton played around 300 minutes of football in 11 days, spending most of it sprinting up and down the wing, I think you're underestimating the tolls on the body. They probably would be okay, I'd rather not risk it however. I'd rather the key players have the full week and a bit off than play at the weekend.

Luckily we are in a transfer window so we can and need to recruit another striker A transfer window which regularly holds buying clubs to ransom. Solanke was sold for 19 million, a guy with 1 premier league goal. Double, triple or quadruple that for a striker with enough quality to slot in.

Especially Vardy, his body would appreciate the extra time to shake off injury niggles.

Took us two attempts to get past Fleetwood last year Oh yes, that 5-1 thraping of Peterborough last season was painful and boring as was the 4-0 demolition of Fleetwood this season. I see nothing but a 1-0 either way.

Picking Vardy shows we are up for it, he can then rest the players that have actually played the most football like Ndidi.

Give Vardy and Albrighton an hour and then replace when we are 2 or 3 up. Soyuncu or Iheanacho could get bullied in my opinion. We should trust in our potential,or motivation goes bang !!! through to the fringe/young players..
Wymsey Posted 5 January 2019 Posted 5 January 2019 0-5. If Vardy plays from the start, it should be very easy, given that he has experience and knowledge of League Two.

GingerrrFox Posted 5 January 2019 Posted 5 January 2019 I think we’ll see something like this now: Ward Simpson Morgan Evans Fuchs James Hamza Albrighton Maddison Diabate Iheanacho

I'd 100% agree on this usually. The sole reason I don't is my concern he's not fully shaken off the injury. It goes without saying he's our talisman and we're far more potent when he plays. Having said this and with respect to Newport, it's almost farcical to consider him a must play in this fixture & risk aggravating further injury when we have other options. We have more than enough depth to win. If squad players on our books are unable to compete with a L2 side then they shouldn't be with us at all.

If we can get through a couple of rounds the games against the bigger sides later in the tournament might be more winnable as CL commitments and title race hots up . Let’s put out a strong side and show the competition some respect I love that too but this is Newport. No mean dirrespect but this is perfect opportunity for fringe player to find their confidence. The fringe player in this are Simpson, Iborra (both we know play decent game against epl sides) ghezzal who got some glimpses, and diabate silva nacho Only 3 of them are real fringe or our weakest. But then our opponent isnt epl qualities. We can win with them, while preventing burn out like shakey first season here when one by one of our player fell down injured

With every single one of them having a premier league winners medal, you mean? Newport are going to be playing direct football, not running at our back 4 all afternoon. That back 4 is fine.
Danizen Posted 5 January 2019 Posted 5 January 2019 @UpTheLeagueFox As far as you're aware, is the manager or any of the staff aware of how desperate we are as a fan base to win the FA Cup? Has our unfortunate record ever come up in press conferences? I'm really hoping we can do something this year but if Puel doesn't understand or just sees the cup as an unwanted distraction, we've got no chance.
