Demarai Gray has gone up in my estimations, fair play to him.

It does feel that the search has been ended quite both abruptly and disappointedly after just a few days into the search.

Money won't be an issue with regards to the search as am sure, like the above article mentions, well-paid sportsmen/coaches can obviously support this search.

Have a feeling it'll go to the stage where it's possible that underwater cameras etc may need to be involved.

Just said on the BBC that his family contacted the FA to say don’t wear black armbands as he hasn’t been confirmed dead yet :(

I kind of agree with this. Its more likely than not that he and the pilot are no longer with us given the circumstances/situation. If they feel the need then wear green arm bands (for hope?) with his name on it for now and when this upcoming search is called off then chances are its 99.9% sure things are what they are.

The rescue teams were using public money so unfortunately had to consider that when it became clear they were not going to find them alive.

Fair play to the likes of Mbappe (€30k) and others who have donated to try to recover them.

It's really sad that stopping looking for 2 people is due to money, I know that's the way the world works, but is a sad fact.

It's once again great to see the footballing world come together to help one of their own.

With the amount of money in football no reason why these footballers cant help out including owners of both clubs. Would be nice if they could get some closure and find him and the pilot.

It wasn't just about money, if it was over land they would probably still be looking. But they went down in the water from what we know and you can't survive those conditions for long.

This may well obviously cause more distress to his family and club.

Cardiff's first home game against Bournemouth on Saturday since the tradegy will be very emotional indeed, and don't agree it's still right for them to proceed with it after this.

Is anyone else sickened by the amount of jokes about this? I get dark humour and I like a lot controversial jokes, but you can't click on a Sala/Cardiff City article without some inbred twat making a shit joke about it in the comments.

Also those Millwall fans. Really hope they get what they deserve and go bust one day.

Agreed. I know how angry I was when I saw a Vichai joke too. What's wrong with these ****ing idiots?!

Very sad.

Even though it's obvious he's gone and it it's against all logic but I have fantasised that they might be still alive somehow...

Hopefully they'll find the bodies and the family can have some proper closure.

'Speaking on Radio 4's Today programme on Monday, Mr Mearns said: "We located the wreckage of the plane on the seabed at a depth of about 63m within the first couple of hours [of searching]."

He said the plane was identified by sonar, before a submersible with cameras was sent underwater and was able to confirm it was the plane.

"They saw the registration number and the biggest surprise is that most of the plane is there," he added.

Mr Mearns's private search has now been stood down and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is at the site working to recover the plane.

He said further investigations by the AAIB would be conducted over the next two days in order to determine how it will attempt a recovery operation.'

Update 3: 4 February 2019

Having identified a priority search area last week, the AAIB agreed a search strategy with Blue Water Recoveries Ltd to maximise the chance of locating the aircraft wreckage.

The AAIB commissioned specialist vessel Geo Ocean III and Blue Water Recoveries Ltd commissioned FPV Morven and the search area was divided between the vessels. Both vessels began their search on the morning of Sunday 3 February.

Early in the search, the Morven identified an object of interest on the seabed using its side-scan sonar equipment. It cleared the immediate area for the Geo Ocean III to use its underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to survey the area of the seabed in which the object was located. Based on analysis of ROV video footage, the AAIB investigators on board the vessel concluded that the object is wreckage from the missing Piper Malibu aircraft, registration N264DB.

The ROV carried out a further search of the area overnight, but did not identify any additional pieces of wreckage.

Tragically, in video footage from the ROV, one occupant is visible amidst the wreckage. The AAIB is now considering the next steps, in consultation with the families of the pilot and passenger, and the police.

The image shows the rear left side of the fuselage including part of the aircraft registration.

We intend to publish an interim report within one month of the accident occurring.
